Kids in Crisis, established in 1978, provides emergency shelter and nursing services to underserved children throughout Connecticut. The services offered by the center include psychiatric care, crises intervention and management, community outreach, child abuse education and prevention, stress management, and educational programs and assessments. It also provides 24-hour counseling and referral services to parents and children suffering from family conflicts, personal pressures, and drug and alcohol abuse. The organization offers various recreational and social activities to children, and conducts seminars and workshops for various issues, including identification of special needs, transitional schooling and personality development. Kids in Crisis is located in Cos Cob, Conn.
