Unfortunately, I have to agree with Kim S. I had seen an ad for a property, and contacted the owner. I spoke to the owner at length, and she encouraged me to apply (through Catherine at Nugget Realty). Upon entering her office, she was immediately unfriendly (frowning at me) before I even introduced myself or my reason for being there. After doing so and requesting an application, she more or less said



"Don't bother applying, we already have an applicant"

"So you don't accept applications from multiple applicants?"

"why would I, if I've already found someone I want".

"Oh, well the owner TOLD me to come in and apply"

"I wouldn't rent to you anyway"

"why?"

"Because of your attitude"

"Can I please have an application anyway"

Look of total annoyance and disapproving stare as she handed it to me.



I pointlessly gave her my number just in case the other renters fell through and

I walked out, dumbstruck. If I had any sort of attitude, it was because I had trouble understanding why any company would offer applications and then refuse to even accept or view them. I wasn't being rude, I just asked a simple question, and was confused by her answer. When I hire an employee for my business, I look at each applicant, because I want the BEST employee. If I was renting a house out, I would probably be even MORE selective, as a property is a long term investment, and I would NEED to know .



I may be fairly young (28), and have long hair, but I also:

1)have a full time job

2)enough funds as well as willingness to pay up to 6 months in advance, along with security deposit, and first and last month's rent,

3)10 years of positive rental references and full security deposits returned every single time I rented.

4) Interested in LONG TERM renting.

5) Am very friendly, I was excited when I walked in there, but I walked out with a bad taste in my mouth. Cottage Grove is such a friendly town, it is VERY rare for me to encounter such rudeness here.



I don't think there are too many tenants that have these qualifications, and Catherine decided she wasn't even going to look at an application from me. Now the owners will never know they had me as an option.



It just seems like a really dumb way to run a business.
