In a moment of poor judgment, I decided against my better instincts to take several alterations to Maria at Spotmaster Dry Cleaning on 718 South Main in Cottonwood, Arizona. They have no dressing room and I had to try on my garments to be pinned in a dirty, dark restroom with no mirror. The trying on for pinning idea seemed to be a new concept to them. Maria, who does the alterations, seemed to expect me to just tell her how many inches I wanted my dress taken up. I left four items with Maria that needed fairly simple alterations. Maria said it would take a few weeks and that she would call me when she was finished with the items. After three weeks of not hearing from her, I went in to the dry cleaner and the items weren't there. I went in a week or so later, (still no phone call), and two of the items were there. The blouse that had a tear at the seam was not repaired, but she had tacked the belt, per my request, although not the way I had asked her to, the more important issue had been the tear. The dress she worked on was very poorly done, with an uneven hem, and strings hanging out where she had worked on it. I was charged over $33.00, which I reluctantly decided to pay, so that I could take them home and have someone else repair them. At that time I asked that she not complete the other garments, the attendant, (Maria wasn’t in, and rarely is,) informed me that she had not begun work on the other items, but she had taken them home and I would have to pick them up later. I tried to pick them up about a week later and they were still not there. Another week has passed and I am still waiting for the return of the jacket and shirt. On another note Spot Master Dry Cleaning does a terrible job as well at dry cleaning, but they do an average job on laundry. If I had any other choice I would go elsewhere, but as far as I know, this is the only dry cleaner in Cottonwood. I'm considering taking my dry cleaning to Sedona. I had two jackets dry cleaned at Spotmaster, and I’m not exaggerating, they looked exactly the same as they did before taking them in, but perhaps even more wrinkled. I am not writing this out of spite or anger. I just wish that I had had a review to read before throwing my money away here.
