This women has transformed her home into a full on daycare, very selfless, so why shouldn't she have pets? Not too mention she has bunnies as well for the children. This allows the children to be around pets they may not have at home. I have seen these pets yes, they are outside and I have never seen a cat litter in the home nor near the entrance, I'm not a big fan of cats but I don't mind them. As for her being on the phone, the owner answers the phone as parents may call her with requests, as I have many times, so it's comforting when she answers, as she does have other teachers who works here and they are assisting the children. She is the owner, she has to do paper work, ummm that's part of the job too. She has a family herself who live here, this is an IN HOME DAYCARE, so if they answer the phone saying "Hello" and without saying a business name, oh well get over it, after your child has been here you realize you are a part of the family and it's not just business. I have my son here and I am perfectly happy and content, he is always clean and is learning quite a lot. The issues the person before this review has stated, are minor and appears to be an isolated opinion. Keep up the great work Ortega!!!

Where do I begin, first off the owner VERY rude when I first called but decided to go look at the place anyway since I was in immediate need of child care. In person she puts up a front that she will teach your kid and care for them so I enrolled my child, about a week or two later I realize she is only in this business for the money! I had gone early a couple times to pick up my child and was furious to see her either on the phone in another room doing paperwork or simply just sitting there while the kids run wild throwing the broken hand-me-down worn out toys at each other! My kid was not being supervised I have no idea! How they have such high ratings! Oh and if you are thinking of enrolling your child I hope they like cats because this lady has tons of them! She even has her smelly cat boxes out in the front of her house accompanied by some junk! So glad I took my kid to a REAL preschool now my child comes home clean and without poop on his shoe everyday! Please don't be fooled by the good ratings as I was the only thing good about this place is some friendly young staff, but a daycare shouldn't be based off that.

My wife and I were looking for a day care near Covina/Azusa area close to work and Ortega family ended up being just right around the corner. At first I was skeptical because it was in a home but, soon realized it was a great atmosphere. She did her living room like a class room filled with games, coloring activities and its set up like a class room atmosphere that my son truly enjoys. Thank you Charlene and staff for all your hard work!

I am a mother with a demanding career whose schedule includes early mornings, late nights and some weekends. Not only does Ortega Daycare give me the peace of mind by offering 24/7 child care, but they also truly care for my son. My son learns so much here with a variety of daily activities, learning lessons, arts and crafts, singing, field trips, and guest visitors. Isabelle the chef has introduced many different foods to my son. I love the fact that once my son starts kindergarten he won’t miss a beat. Ortega Day care provides transportation to and from school and meals are provided, so I can continue with my hectic work schedule and know Ortega Daycare will be there for me and my son. Thank you Charlene, Charles and Staff.

I really enjoy taking my 2 girls to Ortega Family Childcare. Charlene is esp wonderful with thekids. My girls are always looking forward to go there and love to give Char hugs and be held. I have an autistic daughter and Char is very good at dealing with her and watching her. They feed them healthy meals and snacks everyday and have them do alot of crafts and such and play outside alot to get their energy out. She also has them have nap/quiet time after lnch to let their body's rest. Char sends home crafts she has my girls do all the time and is very open to communicating. She'll let you know how the day went and is open and very flexble in dealing with any special arrangementsand such. The aids there are very good with the kids too and communicate well. I esp like how during the summer she takes them out almost everyday to do things, like go hiking, go to a water park, go to the children's musem, go to the movie theater, etc. She also has alotof little toddler pools she'll fill up for the little ones in the summer. I had one of my child's birthday party there and they were awesome decorating, almost all the kids from the daycare came and we had a big bouncer up. Everyone had alot of fun. She se to have a bunch of pretty murals of kids playing painet p on the walls bt the city made her paint over it:(

I have been sending my childcare to this daycare for about 6 months now. It is the best decision in childcare i have made for my child. My child started when she was about 6 months and has learned little things like waving,clapping,story time, and interacting with other children. Charlene is very friendly and flexible, she makes you feel right at home from day one and it never changes. The staff is always very friendly everyone always has a smile on their face. The meals are included with the weekly fee as well which is a great help. My favorite thing is the reports that get sent home daily of the food your child was fed, how often she was changed, and what time she took a nap.

I just have to make a comment about one of the reviews. A person 18 years of age can be CPR trained and work in any business. The look of their age does not mean they are not trained and they are just good with kids. Chewing gum in a business does not mean you are not professional. Business men & women around the wold chew gum. If you are going to write such ignorant comments you should just keep them to you self. I have visited the day care to give a work estimate. I found the day care to be normally clean when you have a group children plaing with toys it cannot be perfect. I saw the owner giving attention to the children as if they were here own.

I recommend this daycare to everyone who has to leave there little one to go off to work. I have my daughter enrolled here and she has been going since she was almost 3 months old and she in now just about 1 years old and I have nothing but good things to say about all the staff, they treat her as if shes part of there family and it makes me feel ok with leaving her. I know she is in good and loving hands, almost if I was with her....

I recently moved to the covina area and was looking for a day care. All the day cares I looked at seemed to be very industrial like, just suffling the children through. I was looking more for a home feel for my child. At Ortega Family Child care I received that feeling they were very professional and welcoming to me and my child, the owner was very detailed in her answers that I had, she seemed to understand what my concerns were with other day cares. I wanted someone to take care of my child just as I would. I sat in the child care for while to observe there daily route. The teachers at the day care were very nuturing with the childen and the infants. They have daily classes for the pre-school children and teach them there ABC's, colors and numbers, she had flash cards and really used alot of education games. Most home daycares will sit the children infront of the TV and never really educate the children. Ortega Family day care was completly different they really interact with the children. At lunch time, they prepared a very delicious meal for the children it was home made with the 5 food groups. I really enjoyed my visit and would recommend this day care to anyone.

When I went for the walk through of the daycare, the owner was chewing gum and very unprofessional. The daycare, which is a house, was dirty and cold, unorganized and the helpers looked like teenagers who were supposedly CPR certified. I do not think that CPR certified means they are kid friendly! I just got a bad vibe from the place. With all of the negatives, they wanted to charge $700 a month, COME ON! A facility that provides much more may charge that. If you don't believe me, go and take a look for yourself!
