My 10 year old son attended in July for 2 weeks. The filthy and neglected appearance of the camp when we dropped my son off gave me pause, but I chocked it up to them still cleaning up from previous campers. Not so. When we picked him up two weeks later, the same piles of trash were still apparent outside the main dumpster, the cabin mattresses still covered in black mold and sand, and the wet moldy dog smell permeated everywhere. It is camping. I can forgive a lot if the activities are good and he gave it a 'thumbs up' but he didn't. The swimming hole is warm, murky and had a 3 foot alligator in it we saw when we dropped him off which he said never left. The extra paid activities he said were fun, but if you don't buy any extra trips there's not much to do at the camp itself.

When we picked him up all his clothing was wet and moldy and clearly had been for some time. He was wearing clothing that was clearly dirty and moldy too so I am unsure where the "stay 2 weeks we do laundry" comes in. There are no clothes lines that I could see to hang items out to dry. To make matters worse he said the bathrooms are so gross he didn't want to go in to take a shower, a lot of the staff are mean, (although he said several are nice), and he has several large lesions (not poison ivy) on his skin that I now have to take him to a doctor to have looked at.

For the price of $117 a day I could have sent him lots of places a heck of a lot nicer (and cleaner) than this. I can't help but think because the website solicits donations for military families and there is such a huge disparity between the price and the condition of the camp, perhaps the rest of us are paying so much so they can go for free? Not appropriate. The website is slick and makes it look really nice. It's not. Save your money.
