Very cool monument not far from Mount Rushmore. The visitors center tells the great story of this monument and its continued work. It will be awesome once completed.

While driving toward Crazy Hor...

While driving toward Crazy Horse Memorial, you can see the sculpture from a distance. This magnificient image gets your excitement going. After there, we spent almost the entire day. I feel everyone should visit, if possible. So much more than just the carved out horse head and Crazy Horse. I hope I live long enough to see it completed. A dream of the creator's family, as well as mine. We were there during a blasting, and I'll never forget seeing the rocks come flying off the site. We purchased a rock, from a blast, and I use it for a door stop. A wonderful rememberance of our trip. We purchased several tapes, while there, and show them to everyone we can get to be still long enough. We plan to return each year, health permitting.

Awesome Work

To understand the sculpture now visible, one must go back to the beginning in 1948. The incredible odds

against this man's work, indicates his devotion to this huge undertaking. The visitor's center presents the

story in graphic detail, and should be first while browsing. We visited the area in 1963, and several times

since then. We were amazed to see rhe progress that had been made. If you really want to understand

this gigantic sculpture, watch the story told in film.
