Sherwood Elementary serves students in kindergarten through grade five. It offers academic instruction in language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. The school additionally offers classes in art, music and physical education. Sherwood Elementary has a media center that stocks more than 6,300 nonfiction books, over 8,000 fiction books and nearly 900 other resources, such as cassettes, videos and newspapers. Its computer laboratory features more than 20 workstations for students to learn Internet access. The school also offers the Title I program that provides extra time for instruction and a variety of teaching methods and materials. In addition, Sherwood Elementary offers an early childhood parent education program that conducts developmental screenings for hearing, vision, and language, personal and social skills and provides educational guidance on fostering child's development. It is located in Creighton, Mo., and is a part of the Sherwood Cass R-VIII School District.
