Let me first start off by saying I have been natural for 3 years and I don’t get my hair straightened often. Actually the last time I got my hair straighten was last year at Fadis which is why I decided to go back today. Today was a totally different experience at the CrestHill location. The place was extremely smoky with no ventilation but that was okay because I just wanted to get my hair straightened and get out. These Egyptian shops are known for the quick blow-dry and feathered look so you’re typically in and out. Well after about 15mins the guy called me to the back to get my hair shampooed and he put his hand in my head and said “this will be $15 extra” I said “why?” he said “because your hair is pure and too thick”. I smiled and thanked him while taking the ratty towel off my neck. It is FALSE ADVERTISEMENT to have a huge sign on the door that says wash and style $35 and when the client gets to the bowl you tell them it’s $15 extra because they have natural hair. The last time I was there they didn’t have extra fees for natural hair. I understand it’s been a year since I’ve been there, but since when did salons charge for the texture of your hair…isn’t it the length??!! Its your business so you can charge what you like, but at least be upfront and post your “real fees”. I wouldn’t have had a problem paying the extra $15, but it was the way in which it was done which was a turn-off for me. Why not have a sign that says $35 for relaxed hair and $50 for natural or even a sign that simply says $35 and up. I’m disappointed but in the end perhaps not having them apply all of that direct heat to my hair was best for me. Their loss…..learn how to run a business professionally and based on your work alone and you wouldn’t have to lure people in with false advertisement.
