Are you looking for job? Are you looking for a daycare? If so I DO NOT recommend the Child Enrichment Center in Schererville, Indiana. As of the beginning of the week my girlfriend removed our children and quit her job there. We have had several issues and violations that we have tried to address multiple times.
1. Children escaping the playground and running towards traffic due to no safety latches on the gates.
2. Unsafe playground equipment that atleast two children have have received severe burns on during the summer.
3. No outlet covers in the school age kids' room. Children were left pretty much unattended and were plugging in devices while unsupervised.
4. Chemicals constantly left with in a child's reach.
5. Bug infestations
6. My son was only 1 year old at the time was removed from his class and put in a bigger kids classroom in order for the daycare to stay under ratio. My son was beat up three separate times by other kids and came home covered in marks.
7. Our children were constantly sick because they wouldn't send other sick kids or teachers home. They force the employees to stay even when they are stick and even if an employee's child is sick.
8. They refuse to call Child Services when needed and threaten employees jobs if you report anything.
9. A neighbor of mine pulled his children out after a teacher locked his child in the bathroom.
10. One of the teachers in the toddler room deliberately blocks children into corners with furniture so they can't play. This same teacher has also been seen pinching and dragging children. To my understanding she is currently under investigation but is still employed.
11. When my girlfriend was hired she worked with children for over 2 months without a drug test or background check. So you never know the type of people who are interacting with your children.
12. The director illegal deducts money from employee checks.
13. If you need any time off for medical reasons the director will hassle you because her business isn't big enough for you to file for FMLA.
14. The daycare is grandfathered in to allow them to have more children per classroom. Which takes away from your child's needs and education.
15. Due to poor management and poorly screening employees they have an extremely high turnover rate. which I feel is unstable for the children to keep having to readjust to new people.
Unfortunately we didn't press to hard on any of these issues in the past because my girlfriend was in fear of losing her job. Fortunately now she has a new one job and all evidence that we have will be turned over to the proper authorities. Do not send your children here. The director is completely unprofessional and 80% of the staff is so immature that they themselves need babysitters. I wouldn't trust this place to watch my dog. The only reason we kept our children there as long as we did was to avoid retaliation. Last week we finally had enough and decided it would be best to enrol our children elsewhere. The director caught wind of it and interrogated my 6 year old for information and then removed my girlfriend from the schedule.
