A Bit of Louisiana Cajun

We just returned from New Orleans/French Quarter. Had a hard time finding good Cajun food in the French Quarter. Finally found a pretty good restaurant, but the Cajun jambalaya is the kind that is mostly rice with Andouille and boudin. You pay extra to add shrimp. So, we'll be back to Neon Leon's very soon. Their jambalaya is so good I always get the large portion so I have some to take home for the next day. It's roux-based with lots of Andouille and shrimp. Instead of mixed into the rice, the rice is added in a scoop on top and you mix it in. Outstanding! I always add a small loaf of their zydeco bread that is warmed and laced with parmesan butter. Other Louisiana dishes are good too, but I just never get beyond the jambalaya. And, the zydeco music on the weekends is good too - but be prepared for LOUD! My 4 stars out of 5 means it's really good. 5 stars are reserved for the few truly outstanding.
