This customer purchased a used consignment firearm from us. Two days after the purchased he called stating he wanted to return the firearm for refund, because of a alleged defect. As posted in our store, on our website and at gun shows, the policy of Rainwater Arms LLC is that all firearm sales are finial, keeping with industry standards. However, the customer was told he could return the firearm and we would give him a full refund of the price he paid. Provided it is return in the same condition as it was sold and the customer agreed. To our surprise the customer sent us a email days later, stating that he alter the firearm in attempt to repair the alleged defect. The customer then wanted to keep the firearm for a few weeks to see if his repaired worked. After consulting with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms (AFT), we were advised not to accept any altered firearms. At that time we informed the customer that we would be unable to accept the firearm back for a refund, because he had altered the firearm. Unfortunately the customer was upset with the advise we received from the ATF, and sent Rainwater Arms several threatening emails. These emails were shared with ATF, due to the concerning content. The customer then proceeded to file complaints with the Missouri Attorney General Office & the Better Business Bureau. Both agencies closed his complaints without findings in his favor. We take great pride in our customer service and satisfaction. That is why we agreed to go against our store policy, and initially offered a refund to satisfy the customer. We truly wish the customer would have taken us up on the initial return offer instead of escalation the situation to where we could no longer help him.
