Established in 1985, NCCAT is also known as North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching. It offers various programs and support services for teachers, counselors, librarians, nurses, social workers, psychologists and media specialists employed in North Carolina s public schools. The center organizes more than 90 seminars annually, on a wide range of topics that includes humanities, arts, sciences, technology, health and communications. It has also featured in the New York Times and on National Public Radio. In addition, its Web site provides online references and resources on the state education system. NCCAT has its campus located in Cullowhee, N.C.
