Provided by YP.comI hired Arbria Construction to install a shower pan for a linear drain , complete installation of Kerdi board in the same shower, install new drywall throughout the Master Bathroom, install a new subfloor and prepare for tiling as well as to frame in a water closet door, cut down existing bathroom door to bypass new floor height, and install insulation in ceilings and walls.
Although they talk a big game, they ultimately made a lot of mistakes and wouldn't take responsibility for ANY of them.
1) The shower pan was installed with dips (low spots). When I confronted them about this, (after their own tile guy they recommended told me it was an issue) they insisted that it was fine as it was and that their tile guy used a level too long and they demonstrated with a shorter level it was "ok". But it wasn't. This will lead to standing water if not corrected.
2) They installed Kerdi Board to waterproof the steam shower and they left large gaps between the board and the corners/bottom/etc. making it difficult to seal up with the required tape etc. They ALSO, under no instruction from me, used REGULAR SCREWS to attach the Kerdi Baord to the walls instead of using the correct fasteners simply because they didn't want to wait to do it instead of doing it the right way. Now those have to be removed and the correct ones put in and then those holes covered before it can be tiled.
3) I told them to be sure to put the insulation in the ceilings and all walls before they closed up the drywall ceilings. When I saw them they had already closed up all of the walls and insisted that they had put the insulation in the attic and in the walls. I had an electrician doing some work a couple of days later and he had to make holes in the ceiling and walls and they had NOT put insulation in all of the ceilings or walls. They put it in about half of the space even though there was enough to go everywhere. This was most important in the steam shower and they didn't put it there either. When I asked them, point blank, had they put the insulation in all of the spaces they lied and said they had.
4) The punctured a hole in the adjacent bathroom shower wall when installing framing for the vanity wall. I told them about it and they said they'd fix it when they came back. All they did was put caulk in the holes on the shower side on the tile. They didn't fix it at all.
5) When they were "done" they still hadn't cut down the door to the bathroom so that it would be high enough when the tile was laid down on the raised floor. They also didn't remove the drywall from the ceiling in the water closet and replace that. When I pointed these out to Haji and Malich Pula they promised they would return when the tile was to be done and return when the drywall was being finished to complete these two things.
When it was time for them to come back to do these things, I contacted them several times via text and email and phone and all of a sudden they refused to respond to me or even acknowledge me once they had been paid.
There are other issues we had but these are the main ones. They are affable and act like they know what they're tlaking about, which they might, but their word is worthless - if you can't trust them then it doesn't matter if they know their stuff or not. I would advise NOT hiring these men because they will simply tell you what you want to hear, lie to your face, and once you've paid them, never return to finish any outstanding items.
