I visited Dr. Cothern May of 2008. The dental hygienist spent about 2 hours with me. 2 hours later she told me that I needed a deep cleaning which would cost me about 1,500.00. I knew right away that was not what I needed and that this office was just out to get money from people. I have a friend who is a dental hygienist and I gave her my numbers from the plaque/tarter test. She was shocked that they said I needed a deep cleaning. She said my numbers were low and normal. Dr. Cothern spent about 3 minutes with me. I asked her how many cavaties I had and she said that she would discuss that with me on my next visit (meaning the visit that is scheduled for the deep cleaning). They scheduled two visits for a deep cleaning one in June and one in July. That would put me almost 3 months out of even knowing what kind of dental work that needed to be done. I have never been to a dentist that could not tell you what kind of work you needed done on your teeth on your first visit even after seeing the X-rays. I left and then cancelled my appointments. The front desk lady left me a rude message a few weeks later saying that I owed them $24.00. She said, I don't want to waste my time and we don't want to have to turn this over to collections, so call me with your credit card number to take care of this. They never sent me a bill, just left me a rude message over $24.00. They are out of Network with Metlife and that is why I ended up paying 80.00 in office and still owed 24.00 after that. This is a major money scheme making dentist and that is obvious by looking at her profile and the charities she supports and the area in which she gets most of her clients. So basically I got nothing for $100.00 and 2 hours of my time. They didn't even do a regular cleaning. Waste of my time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
