AT&T is one of the largest telecommunications companies publicly traded in the United States on the New York Stock Exchange. Based in San Antonio, the company has Internet protocol-based network capabilities, assets and resources that use the Internet to integrate voice, data and video. Operating worldwide under the AT&T brand, AT&T companies are providers of IP-based communications services to business and as leading U.S. providers of high-speed Internet, local and long distance voice and directory publishing and advertising services. The company has a 60-percent ownership interest in Cingular Wireless, a wireless services provider with more than 54 million customers. In March 2005, AT&T merged with BellSouth Corporation, a Fortune 100 communications company headquartered in Atlanta, Ga.
