Since 1969, the Lovers Lane location is a true throwback to it's big brother on Harry Hines Blvd (set.1955). This neighborhood restaurant and bar is famous for mesquite grilled steaks, chops, quail, chicken and seafood all cooked on open pits in the dining room. Dunston's garden fresh salad bar is a fan favorite for generations of Dallasites. Locals and out-of-towners alike, have come to know Dunston's as an "old school" Dallas institution.Since 1969, the Lovers Lane location is a true throwback to it's big brother on Harry Hines Blvd (set.1955). I Love Dunstons!

Ok...It's not the finest steakhouse in town...but it's the best place to go and relax and be among friends. It has good food at a good price. The salad bar is great and Judy and Homer make you feel very welcome! The front part is for the tourists...the Back Door Bar is warm and friendly. Linda and Shirley take good care of you and Alex pours a great drink (although, I must admit, not as good as Juan used to!).

Nice, casual, welcoming...believe it or not, Monday night is the toughest to get a table. The Country Club's kitchen is shut down so everyone meets at Dunstons!

Rudest experience I have ever witnessed!!

I am lucky enough to work for a company that takes us out to eat for lunch on occasion. Today we were being treated to steaks at Dunston’s Steakhouse, and not for the first time. Two co-workers ordered chicken, both of which said it tasted funny, like it was spoiled. One of them tried to send it back and get something edible. Well the server huffed about it and said she’d have to get the manager. The manager, who happened to be the owner Judy Dunston herself, came over with an attitude that I have never witnessed in any service oriented establishment in my life! She was beyond rude, repeatedly saying that there was “Nothing wrong with the chicken!” and “Why did you order it then?!” When she asked if she could just have something else Judy threw a fit about how she was “Already losing money” on her!! Dunston’s lost more then the cost of a chicken today! Our table of ten most likely would have ordered dessert, and even returned again. After today, we will not ever be going back there for our company lunches! We were all so flabbergasted by Judy’s antics that we will all be passing around the word not to eat there to our family, friends, and YOU!

Health Problems

My visit to Dunston, took a friend out for his birthday meal. We were sitted and waited for sometime for the waiter to take our drink order.

I was looking around and noticed a waitress carring things out to tables and as I watched she was coughing not cover her mouth. As I watched her I she started picking at her teeths.

We order our meal and the waitress walks right by me and coughs in my direction and this upset me but I didn't want to say anything during the meal.

While we ate I was looking towards the kitchen only to see the same waitress picking her teeths again and coughing while handling food.

This went on for a long time. As she was picking up food she rubbed her face and it was as if no one that works there even noticed or said anything to her.

We finished dinner and I asked my friend to please wait outside. I went up to the casher and started to explain to her what had happen and what I saw. The casher acted like she didn't want to hear what I had to say and I then asked her for the managers name and phone nubmer only to have her turn around while I was talking to her. This is when our waiter stepped in and asked if he could help, I again as for the managers name and phone number only to have them ignore me again. The waiter told me that the manager was in the kitcher cooking.

Ms. Dunston then came to me and asked what the problem was and I explained what had happened and what I noticed about her wait staff. Ms. Dunston said she was sorry and left me feeling like she didn't even care.

Teach your waitstaff not to cough on customers and food. Teach your employees how to communicate with customer and give them the managers name and phone number if they ask.

I would not recommend this for a place to eat.

It's ceretainly not what it used to be.
