In 2007, Lloyd Lumpkins formed the firm of L. Lumpkins Architects to pursue his passion of creating architecture based on classical principals of design. With a successful career spanning over 30 years and influenced by historical European architectural styles Lloyd has provided designs for some of the finest residences and estates in the region. Homes that exude a quiet elegance. Born and raised in East Texas, Lloyd was influenced at an early age by the romantic revival styles of the early 1900’s that are prevalent in the old neighborhoods in his hometown of Tyler. He saw how classical forms and detailing combined with proper scale and proportions created an elegance and grace that enriched the neighborhoods that he was so fond of. He also intimately understands that communication and client involvement throughout the design process are essential to a successful project. It is this teamwork approach merged with collaborations with some of the area’s finest designers, craftsmen, and artisans which results in the creation of homes with a timeless appeal. Lloyd received both his Bachelors of Architecture and Masters of Business Administration from Texas Tech University. He has also taught and lectured at Universities in the U.S. and abroad and while licensed in Texas and Oklahoma he is available nationally. “My passion is helping every one of my clients put form to their definition of home. Their hopes, dreams, and desires. I design my houses to be homes that integrate the personalities of my clients and their family. Of course it is also this closely held idea that can cause so much frustration and heartache in the process. Done right it becomes that joyful place that perfectly reflects who you are; that place you call home. My design approach stresses listening carefully to my clients, understanding their preferences, priorities, lifestyles, hopes, and dreams. Guiding and educating their preconceived concepts into cohesive designs that respects the architectural style they are pursuing. The client is an integral part of the design team and the creative process.
