Dirty, Filthy, Nasty!

Run, don't walk away from this place! Arrogant, condescending staff AND management (specifically Amy Ryan, Operations Manager). I had a $95 cut & style appointment 11/9/2012 with Martin. I have extremely curly, frizzy, out-of-control Caucasian hair. My hairdresser of 20+ years became very ill so I was forced to seek someone new. Upon my arrival, Omar greeted me & treated me like a queen. After Omar passed me on to Martin. I had a detailed consult with Martin--explaining that I wanted a cut whereby I could style it in a smooth, bodied with movement, as well as curly on days where humidity was high. He said I should wear my hair curly all the time. I patiently repeated what I wanted over and over. It seemed , finally, he understood then escorted me to the back where the shampoo bowls were, pointing ot the first one, then quickly editing. As I approached the bowl he pointed out, I was appalled! The bowl and nozzles had very dark red color splattered all over as well as 3 different colors of hair piled up in the mesh drain! I moved to the next, the next, the next bowls--all were filthy with hair piled up onto the drains. Finally the last bowl was clean and I sat there. This person (I would provide a name, but she did not introduce herself and was still reeling from the disgusting, nasty bowls), walked in & tried to get me to move to the first and worst bowl (I should have walked out then). I pointed to the nastiness and told her I was not sitting there and certainly will not put my head nor my hair in there. She began attempting to clean the bowl with a towel, but was unsuccessful because the color was dried so hard. Finally she moved me to another bowl, which was less disgusting, but far from clean. As she was shampooing my hair, she began a dissertation of hair follicle's, shafts, etc., talking incessantly. Finally, Shampoo finished, she asked me, "do you want a moisturizer, or do you like your hair dry & brittle?" Confused I asked, "What?!, who likes their hair dry & brittle?" She said some people like their hair that way. Again, I should have bolted, but was desperate for a haircut. That nightmare over, or so I thought, handed back over to Martin. The cut was decent, but when he began styling he was pulling my hair completely straight. I reminded him that I wanted smooth body with movement. He acted like this was the first he's heard this. So he began using a smaller brush, creating tight curly-Q's. WOW! Passive/Aggressive as I've never seen, nor even heard of. I gave up, shut up, and silently prayed this nightmare would soon end. Finished, Martin escorted me back to the front with wonderful Omar. I simply handed Omar my card to pay, and he asked me what was wrong, I said I just wanted to pay and leave, please. Omar expressed a genuine concern for what was obviously displayed in my facial expression. So I shared with him how displeased I was with my entire visit. He refused to allow me to pay, handed me Amy Ryan's card, and assured me Amy would call me. She never called, so I called her. At every turn, Amy defended these actions, stating that I am the only person that has ever complained. Needless to say, I hung up. Seriously people, avoid this place like the plague.
