Phil and Rick made the process of choosing a high quality stone for my fiancé’s engagement ring as well as our wedding bands enjoyable and stress free. Both Phil and Rick were a great help to me and my fiance when we were picking out wedding bands together yesterday. If any of you are looking for diamonds in Rowlett go to Dallas and visit with Oded at Motek Diamonds. I found my diamond at a better price, better selection, and better service. They showed me so many diamonds and showed me what to look for in a diamond. Motek's Diamond Selection on loose Diamonds is a lot bigger than everyone else I've seen. I'd give ZERO stars if I could. I went through the WHOLE process and ended up having to get a refund because my custom engagement ring was horrible, the experience frustrating and Lance tarnished my engagement.



1. The ring turned out to not even be custom b/c all the specifications I gave him he didn't follow in the final product, even though he assured me he understood what I wanted. i have all the email threads as proof and I even went in and pointed out with a pencil specific lines I did not want on the ring.



2. Service is unreliable and frustrating. I dealt with Lance the whole time and he made promises he could never keep. When the process started to drag on past a month we gave him a deadline b/c we felt like we were being pushed back to the bottom of his queue. He'd set his own deadlines, and then not meet them. Sometimes he would not reply to our emails. My friend went with another jeweler and went through the whole process in under a month. Lance took three months.



3. Horrible workmanship! The "PLAT" that was inscribed inside the band looked like someone had sneezed in the middle of inscribing it. The side stones were bad quality so much that you could see inclusions and darkness with the naked eye and they weren't even centered. There were dents in the band similar to hail damage and upon closer inspection, there were holes all over the ring! I found out later from another jeweler it was b/c the platinum they used was recycled and the metal forms "pores" after being re-melted over and over. They also noted that the ring was very poorly polished as there were scratches all over it. Metal was also warped making my engagement ring look nothing better than a piece of play jewelry.



4. when I sent LANCE an email detailing every thing that was wrong, he merely dismissed any wrongdoing and claimed the ring was "EXCEPTIONAL" and that I was being unreasonable.

If you're looking to get a diamond engagement ring, Motek will save you a ton of money.



While looking around, I stumbled upon Motek's website and information. At first I admit I thought it seemed a bit sketch, but I made an appointment (important: no walk-ins, only meeting by appointment) and met with the guys at Motek. Basically, they are wholesalers, and I mean real wholesalers. They supply many of those "wholesalers" you'd find in the WTC.



Basically, this is how it works. You set up an appointment to meet with them one-on-one, you walk in, talk a little about what you're looking for, and they bring out some loose diamonds for you to take a look at. They give you pointers and help you understand what you're looking for and what you're buying and why you're buying what you're looking for. One thing that really put me at ease was that there was absolutely no pressure to spend more on a diamond. Actually, I was discouraged from spending more just because I found a diamond under my budget. He said, "Why spend more? You found a great diamond that you like under your budget, save that money, spend it on the engagement dinner!" Seriously, that is rare candor and honesty, which I really appreciated. However, please note that at first the guys might sound like slick sales guys, but really they're trying to make it all a win-win situation.



Motek also will get your diamond mounted in whatever ring and setting you like (literally, there are tons of options you can choose from, it took me a while to sort through it all).



To save the most money, pay cash. Compared to retail stores that I had visited, I literally saved 40-50% on everything.

I just picked up my ring today. All I can say is WOW! its beautiful. We took Oded a picture of a ring and it looks just like the picture. We shopped around for a diamond but no one could come close to the price and quality of the diamond. Oded listens very carefully to what you want and gives his expert advise. No high pressure sales! Thank you Oded! Its a pleasure doing business with such a nice and honest guy.

There is so many great things to say about Oded and his expertise, I could probably fill a whole page. Let me begin by thanking Oded for all of his time and patience. Oded clearly has a knowledge about diamonds that he was more than happy to share with us. I wanted a yellow fancy diamond... This was no easy feat in our local jewelry stores. Everywhere we went we experienced some sort of dishonesty. Oded helped us find the most beautiful VVS2 yellow diamond. The best part of all of this is the value! The price we paid for a 2.44 CT gorgeous halo ring doesn't compare to even one store we checked out. I wish I could post a picture of my ring... Words can't describe how beautiful it is. I would love to provide a reference if needed for anyone who is nervous shopping online.

My husband wanted to upgrade my diamond for my 40th anniversary. His intent was to purchase the diamond on a cruise. We decided to check out diamonds prior to the cruise to have a comparison.
