Provided by YPmobileDYAS is great!! My daughter truly enjoys herself. Fun atmosphere, friendly staff, and very informative. I called to get information about the studio and actually got to speak with the director Linda. She put me down for a tour of the facility that weekend and I sighed my daughter up that day. I would definitely recommend this studio. Love it!

Provided by YP.comBoth of my daughters attend Dallas Young Actors Studio. One is gaining a strong foundation behind the camera in DYAS's Teen Producers' program, and the other is pouring her heart not only into the editing side of the studio, but moreover in front of the camera as well.
Though my actress daughter has only attended DYAS for about a year, she has secured a television commercial, two radio voice-over commercials, two regional modeling jobs, and a webisode, along with numerous other theater and film credits that are not singularly credited to DYAS Productions. ...And the child doesn't even have an agent yet.
My daughters are serious and passionate about their education and future in the industry, and DYAS is proving to be a passionate, effective studio in preparing my girls for their dreams.

Provided by YP.comMy husband and I decided to support our daughter’s request to begin acting lessons but we didn’t have any experience so after completing a detailed search, we came across Dallas Young Actors Studio. The weekly classes are fun and offer relevant training for in the tv/movie industry. Our daughter participated in two summer camps that gave her real-world experience in a sitcom –even a live taping! She participated in the Hollywood Showcase for a top Hollywood children’s agency and Hollywood Casting Director and afterwards, was invited to Hollywood to audition for the agency department heads and has since auditioned for various roles. Linda's experience in the industry and honesty in the reality of pursuing a career in the TV and Film industry has been crucial in preparing our family, not just our daughter. I would highly recommend Dallas Young Actors Studio regardless of your desire to support your child’s love for acting or just be more comfortable in public speaking situations.

Provided by YP.comAlmost three years ago, we looked all over Dallas for a good acting school for our son. What we found with DYAS was much more than that. The coaches are fantastic and not only has our son been able to build his skill set as an aspiring actor, but perhaps equally important, he has developed production skills as well. They have a full studio and encourage all the students to work in front as well as behind the camera, where they learn the dedication and skills required to produce TV and feature length projects. From sound recording to operating cameras to editing and writing, the students learn many aspects of the industry to prepare them for their future. They even have special events (Like Hollywood Showcase) throughout the year, bringing in casting directors and agents from LA to watch and provide feedback and direction. Linda has tremendous knowledge and guidance for those students that wish to pursue a career in acting and I have seen many students go to LA from this school. Xai, Brad and Linda are running a great school and I highly recommend it.

Provided by YP.comMy Mother signed me up for every class imaginable to keep me busy and find out where my strengths were. I took dance classes, basketball, gymnastics, piano and everything in between. When I first learned about Dallas Young Actors Studio, I was so excited to learn all about acting! Needless to say, I found my home and stayed for 8 years. I was not only pursuing my passion, as an aspiring actor, but I learned valuable communication skills, learned and developed my own unique qualities and developed a ton of self-confidence that has carried me through my life and made me a successful entrepreneur. I learned real life skills that have greatly enriched my business and personal relationships. I sent all of my younger siblings, whether they wanted to be an actor or not. I could never repay the studio for all of the support, skills and knowledge I gained as a student and eager volunteer. Thank you for helping me find lifelong friends, priceless memories at a state of the art production studio right here in Dallas Texas!

Provided by YPmobileThe experience Makenzee has gotten these past 4 years has been irreplaceable. She has gained so much confidence in herself and has really come out of her shell. She is outgoing and really goes after what she wants. She even found her love for the "behind the scenes" action. Every aspect of the acting studio has helped her grow into the young women I. see before me. She works with lighting, camera, sound, pre-production, post-production and producing. This is in addition to the work she does in front of the camera. Thank you so much to the staff of DYAS for dedicating your lives to bettering those lives of your students. There is no place Makenzee would rather be every free day that she has than at the studio. Thank you for giving her a safe place to be herself!

Provided by YPmobileMy daughter is now in her 2nd year at DYAS. She absolutely loves it and as a parent, I love it too! She is learning so much, from general acting skills, green screen work, voiceover work, and has been in 4 sitcoms already and has been in front of legitimate Hollywood agents and casting directors. The roster of kids you now see on TV and movies from this school is impressive! My daughter is also starting the young producers class which will teach her camera skills, lighting, editing, etc. I highly recommend this facility!

Provided by YP.comMy 7yo is interested in all forms of acting: theater, TV, film, and voice. We tried DYAS because there just weren't that many places where she could take acting classes at her age. Not only do they make the learning so fun that it is her favorite activity every week, but she did a camp this summer and learned a lot while filming and building her resume. She was picked up at Hollywood Showcase last spring by a top agency and is currently auditioning for roles in L.A. Whether or not she gets any, the skills she has learned and will continue to learn from Linda and her staff will benefit my daughter in many areas of her life. Public speaking and being able to think and speak on your feet are important whether you are an actress, a lawyer, or a CEO. Media is going to be a big part of professional life in the 21st century and my kid is already super comfortable on camera. The staff also does a great job of teaching the kids how to behave professionally on set and in auditions as well as prepping parents for the reality of L.A. If you end up there like us.

Provided by YPmobileDYAS is a fantastic place for any child or teen interested in acting and the TV/film industry. Linda Seto and the staff are exceptional! Our son has excelled in both his acting and production skills. He's also had a lot of fun and made many wonderful friends! His dream is to pursue a career in the TV/film industry, however, the confidence he's gained and the speaking skills he's learned at DYAS have prepared him for whatever path he chooses in life. We feel that this is the best investment we've made in our child! Thank you Linda and DYAS!! You're awesome!!

Provided by YP.comWe have three kiddos and we appreciate the awesome work and patience from the teachers at DYAS. The confidence our children have created from having to be in front of people and practice and deliver their scripts and commercials is a life skill they will have forever. We are grateful for DYAS and the vision, their staff and volunteers. Keep up the great work!

Provided by YP.comDuring the past 5 years DYAS prepared my daughter (Olivia) to be a working actress. She did acting classes that involved comedy/drama improv, scene studies, voice over, and green screen work. During one of their Talent Showcases, Olivia was picked up by The Campbell Agency, and has since been working. DYAS also helped in videotaping auditions and building her resume. Her time here has been a catalyst for her career as well supporting her during her teenage years. The facilities here are fabulous. They have a "Teen Producers" program that Olivia participated in where she learned behind-the-scenes lighting, sound, camera, pre-production, post-production, and producing. With this knowledge Olivia applied and was accepted into the NYU Tisch School of the Arts program in Film/TV production and will be attending this Fall 2015. Thank you so much to the staff of DYAS (Andrea, Xai, Brad and Linda) for being so supportive of Olivia's desire to be in the Film/TV industry. I will keep you all posted on her career as she continues to pursue a Film/TV acting & production career.

Provided by YP.comI signed my daughter up for acting camp based on the reviews I read online. Clearly things have changed here is the past few years. To say her week of camp was disappointing would be an understatement.
To begin with, the camp runs for just over 6 hours per day. During that time at least 90 minutes was spent watching movies while other children were practicing. This was in addition to the hour spent on lunch time. Given the short amount of instruction time I would have expected more.
The studio seems to be staffed by parents who are enamored by the hope that their children will get contracts in LA for TV series due to the studio director's "connections." If that is even remotely in your hopes please look elsewhere. The only time you will see the director is at your child's "audition" and at the final family showcase. She's not remotely involved otherwise and your child's camp will be run by interns with limited experience.
The only recommendation I have is to look elsewhere.

Provided by YP.comDYAS is a highly effective school in training students for success in the field of television and film. Linda Seto is an award-winning director and knowledgeable, passionate teacher who positively encourages her students toward excellence. The studio is non-profit, making the classes inexpensive in comparison to its equivalent in the LA market. Furthermore, connections to top agents and casting directors in Hollywood make DYAS a viable bridge to the California market.
Rather than read reveiws penned by satisfied or unsatisfied parents, however, researching the success stories that have come directly from DYAS might prove a more eye-opening option for someone seeking to determine if DYAS truly is as effective as the LA market claims it is.

Provided by YP.comLinda Seto, owner, puts excessively high pressure on all students to add on services that she feels are "necessary" to advance one's acting career. These services come in the form of additional classes every month, which are excessively expensive. However, after speaking to several TV Producers (on job sites), the additional classes that Linda refers to as "resume hits or credits", are completely unnecessary as they are all "hits" from a school and not actual professional acting credits. Although any "credit or hit" is better than none, employed Producers I spoke to suggested that when they see a resume that includes "hits" all from one school, they pretty much ignore most of those line items... However, Ms. Seto contends that they are absolutely necessary to get an acting job. Ms. Seto highly discourages participation in multiple acting studios. However, diverse education and experience seems to be preferred by employed Producers. Do your research before putting in a ton of money...
Ms. Seto also exercises excessive favoritism and initiates fundraising campaigns focused on current students of only wealthy students including, but not limited to, students of local professional athletes and high ranking business executives. Additionally, Ms. Seto offers substantial discounts for customers who pay in cash, which some could view as questionable business practices.
Ms. Seto hosts two “Producer Showcases” each year, one is geared towards local TV Producers and the other is geared towards “Hollywood” Producers. One shall enter both showcases as a learning experience only. The same Producers return each year and often see the same kids (actors). Prior to each Showcase, Producers are “prepped” with information about the students (some good and some bad) and only a select group of parents are invited to join Ms. Seto and the Producers for a private luncheon to discuss the students (which I was selected for one year). During the luncheon, Producers are warned which parents and studens she “likes” and “dislikes” in advance, regardless if Ms. Seto’s opinion is personal or professional, which essentially sways the decision of Producers. From the four Producer Showcases we paid to attend, approximately 75 kids participated in each session and no kids were offered a paid acting job as a direct result of the Showcase to my knowledge.
It is my firm opinion that one must enter this studio with low expectations. There are some very valuable instructors on staff, but the management of this facility in my opinion is less than professional. Proceed with caution.
Everything contained in this review is my personal opinion, based on my personal experience. I attribute my child's success as an actor to one single acting coach not affiliated with Young Actors Studio.
