We hosted a birthday party las...

We hosted a birthday party last Saturday at Kome Sushi Buffet in Daily City last Saturday. Party was to start at 1:30 pm, when I got there at 1:00 pm, there were already hundreds of people there blocking the front doors, lobby, and entrance to the seating area. The people trying to leave from the 1st seating had to fight to get out. Kome opens at 1:30 pm for everyone for the 2nd seating. Doorways were jammed and it was impossible to go in or out. No one at Kome was directing the mob, or tried to clear a path for people. Doorways remained jammed until about 2:30 pm. If a fire was to happen when people were blocking the entrance, people would be trapped in the fire. If you were in a wheelchair or trying to wheel a baby to get in or out, too bad.

We confirmed the number of people before the party about 4 times to be 35. When we got there, set up of was for 30. Kome even called us once to confirm the head count. We had to add seats to already cramped tables. Place was so overbooked, a table could not be added. Tables were not marked, so we had to beat off people from other parties from taking our tables. It was all about putting as many people in to make as much $$$$$ as you can. I would like to know the legal number of people allow, and the actual number of people seated.

SERVICE (THERE WAS NO SERVICE)
Service, or lack of service was the norm. Waiter came over and asked what drinks our party wanted, when only a couple of people from our party were seated. Waiter was told that people were not seated yet, and we didn't know what people wanted because they were still trying to get in. When everyone got in, We could not find a waiter. We had to search for a waiter and had to demand that he take our order. We did not get our drinks untill a half hour later. More on lack of service, I had to clear some of the plates off the table, because the waiter did not.

FOOD (THERE WAS NO FOOD)
Food lines were very long. It was like cattle being lead to a water trough. I avoided the long line at first and ate mostly Sushi, which was not too bad. By the time I went for the regular food when the lines were gone, gone was the food also. So I can not rate the food, because there was no little, or no food. I was too mad at that time to eat, so it did not matter.

Would I host another party there? NO!
Is it a fire trap? YES!
Would I recommend Kome to friends? If I wanted to keep the friends, N0!
Was I happy with Kome? No!
Would I go back? No!

Kemo manger Peter explained that a party of 200 people with reservation at 2:30 pm came in early at 1:00 pm, and with 250 people instead of 200. They insisted on being let in for the 1:30 pm sitting and pushed their way in. That is Kome's problem, and not the problems of the customers. Because $$$$$ means so much to Kome, the party was let in at the expense of the other customers. They knew at the time there were problems, and did nothing to correct the problems. They could have offer their apology at the time everyone was there, offered discounts, or free drinks. They did nothing. All that matters to Kome management is $$$$$.

Clear violations:

Blocked entrance and exit doorways.

Exceeding seating limit.

Variety of foods from sushi to chicken to seafood. Food tends to be on the salty side. Be prepared to wait in the long line unless you arrive when they open. Price is a bit on the high side.

Desserts to die for

I would just skip the fair sushi and go straight to dessert if I ever ate here again. I doubt that I will however as I am not a fan of lobster, greasy food and so-so sushi though you do get a free bday meal.
