It is a part of Ocean Institute, which is an ocean educational organization that provides hands-on marine science, environmental education and maritime history programs. The institute serves more than 110,000 students in kindergarten through grade 10. Ocean Institute is comprised of over 6,000 teachers. It also specializes in marine and social science programs. The institute maintains marine life tanks and wet tables with video microscopes, as well as a digital imaging laboratory. Ocean Institute teaches oceanography and science to students. It works in partnerships with Cox Communications, Creative Concept Sound Solutions, Montage Resort & Spa and Toshiba America Business Solutions.
