This hotel is on a hilltop overlooking the harbor.
You can easily access the harbor and the lantern district. It is a very safe area so no issues with walking to and from. Bring comfortable shoes as there are many steps leading to both areas.
The room was very spacious and well lit by natural light.
The bed was comfortable with enough pillows to work and watch TV from the bed. There was also wi-fi access, a coffee maker and enough comfortable seating to provide room for a small meeting or get together.
There was a bar and restaurant in the hotel but I did not use either so cannot comment.
The staff was very helpful - I left my phone in a Lyft vehicle and they helped me to get it back.

Forget about the Ritz or St. Regis -- sure they're nice - because he Marriot in Dana Point has the most rediculously awesome views. period. The decor is modern and friendly and makes it feel like you're at a beachside resort (where St. Regis and Ritz are less so). The DP harbor is walking distance, as is Doheny state beach. Try at sunset drinks at the Vue, you won't regret it.
