We've been attending classes at the school for two years now and absolutely love it. They have a great variety of classes from beginner obedience to advanced tricks and agility classes. The trainers at the facility are great and truly care about your dog and have an endless supply of advice of how to handle difficult doggy situations.

My dog loves Holly and all the trainers here and enjoys attending classes. When we started going to class here my dog was dog aggressive. Through a lot of hard work she's become more comfortable around other dogs and I've learned to read her body language to keep her out of situations with other dogs that could be stressful for her. I have also used their mini board and train program while going out of town. My dog had a blast as she always does at the school.

I would highly recommend the Dog Training Academy of South Florida to my friends and family.

I've been bringing my lab Isabel here since she was three months old. I really like Holly and her system of positive reinforcement. My lab is seven months old and has a mind of her own but she's learned so much from Holly. I like Cindy as well and she came highly recommended by my neighbor but with her I feel it's her way or the highway and that Isabel is incorrigible. Holly achieves the right balance between letting dogs be dogs and enjoying their lives and making sure that they learn how to conform their behavior to acceptable norms and good citizenship. Also I really like the flexibility of being able to take classes during the week or the weekends when it's convenient and if you buy the packages the prices are quite reasonable.

I WAS A BIT DISAPOINTED THAT I NEVER RECIEVED A CALL BACK FROM HOLLY MONTHS BACK WHEN CALLING ABOUT A DIFFRENT DOG THAT CAME TO LIVE WITH ME MAYBE IT WAS DUE TO THE PREVIOUS DOG I EXPLAINED TO THERE TEAM! AFTER SPEAKING TO A NICE LADY ON THE PHONE THAT I FELT AFTER I HUNG UP ..THAT THEY PROBALLY WOULD NOT TAKE IN ANYONE OF THE DOGS I AM FOSTERING FOR A RESCUE ORGANZATION AS IT WAS A GREAT OPPTUNITY I THOUGHT SINCE AFTER MONTHS OF ASKING RESCUE OWNER OF RESCUE THESE DOGS COULD PLEASE GO TO HOLLY EVEN WITH THE BAD PRESS ABOUT HER TURNING THESE DOG AWAY TOO COUSTOMERS IN A WAY THAT SHE MAKES IT LOOK LIKE SHES NOT,,, I WANTED TO DO SOMETHING DIFFRENT TO BUILD BETTER MENTAL STIMULATIONS FOR DOGS & THE RESCUE FINALLY AGREED TO GO AHEAD AND LET ME SIGN UP! I DO HAVE VERY AGGRESSIVE PITBULLS THEY HAVE TRANSFORMED AMAZING AND I FELT IT WAS TIME TO BRING OUT THE STARS IN MY DOGS AND GET TO MEET HOLLY..AS THEY MAY BE UNPREDICATABLE AROUND MANY DISTRACTIONS OF OTHER DOGS THEY HAVE BEEN FINALLY TRAINED CURRENTLY IN A STYLE THAT THIS ACADEMEY IS VERY AGAINST. AS JUST A FOSTER I FOLLOW THE OTHER TRAINERS RULES I HAD USING PRONG COLLARS , I CAN MANAGE THEM NOW WITH A MARTINGAL COLLAR BUT DO FOR SAFETY REASON DUE TO THE STRENGHT COMPARE TO MY SIZE IN CASE OF EMERGENCY I WOULD BE ON THE FLOOR IF ONE HAD A FLASHBACK MOMENT OF THERE ABUSE LEFTON THE STREETS TO DIE,,NO FOOD RESPONSE FROM ANY OF MY DOGS WAS WORKING WITH THEM OUTDOORS INSIDE YES IF NO DISTRACTIONS/ AFTER GOING TO BAHAVORIST AND POSTITVE RE INFORCEMENT CLASSES THEY HAD BEEN NOT WELCOMED ANY MORE DUE TO THE FACT THEY SPIT THE TREATS OUT AND TOYS THEY CAN GIVE TO HOOTS ABOUT! THESE ARE NOT YOUNG PUPPIES THEY ARE DOGS THAT HAD TO BE REHIBALTED FROM ABUSE AND THE DOG FIGHTING AND NOW ENNED TO HAVE FUN WORLD..THESE DOGS NEED THE MOST HELP AND THIS PLACE WILL ONLY IT SEEMS TO ME TAKE THE FOO FOOS DOGS OR BULLY BREEDS THAT ARE PUPPIES ONLY. AND AVOID THESE MORE POWERFUL BREEDS WITH HISTORY OR SOME ISSUES. MY FOSTER DOGS CAN BE VERY STUBBORN AND CHALLENGING BUT I DONT GIVE UP I WORK VERY HARD AROUND THE CLOCK WITH MY DOGS !1 IM WILLING TO TAKE A ANOTHER SHOT BEFORE PASSING FULL ARGEEMENT OF THE TALK IN TOWN YOU AVOID TO EXCEPT THESE RESCUE DOGS THAT REALLY COULD BENEFIT ON THE ACTIVITIES YOU OFFER IN THIS PROGRAM. WHICH IS A SHAME. ON THE POSITIVE SIDE I HAVE MET WITH PLENTY OF FOO FOO DOGS THAT TRAINED HERE AND WAS AMAZED BY THE RESULTS OF THESE DOGS . THIS .ONE OF THE REASONS WHY I WANTED TO GO TO HOLLY . THEY NEED ANOTHER OUTLET OF TRAINING WITH AGILTY, ACTING, DANCING TRICKS TO BEGIN TO SHOW THE WORLD THERE READY TO BE ADOPTED DOGS. IT SEEMS THAT A BAD RAP AROUND BROWARD COUNTY TRAINERS AND OTHER ,RESCUES ORG. ABOUT YOU NOIT WRKING WITH THE RE

ESCUES PITDSATTENTION YOU WILL NOT EVE EXCEPT DOGS THAT HAVE PREVIOUSLY HAVE BEEN TRAINED WITH THE PRONG COLLARS DID U THINK MAYBE LIKE MYSELF THAT TREAT TRAINING HAS FAILED OUR DOGS TO WE HAD TO TAKE ANOTHER ROUTE TO GET THE PITBULLS THAT HAD A ROUGH LIFE RESULTS TO KEEP THEM ALIVE OR NO LAW SUIT ON US, EVEN THE ONES THAT ONLY DO POSTIVE RE ENFORCEMENT LIKE YOUR FACILTY DOGS HAVE YET BEEN ABLE TO SUCCED TO HANDLE MY DOG WITH TREATS OR TOY .

Awesome training

Everyone said training a baby husky would be impossible but DTSFL proved them wrong by providing excellent help in skill building and overall training. Wouldn't think of taking my puppy Skye anywhere else !

I have been bringing my Yorkie CODY to DTASFL for a year now. We started out when he was a puppy, joining puppy classes and puppy camp, which was a tremendous start to my dog's training and socialization skills, learning how to interact and play properly with other dogs of all sizes. We then went on to Obedience and very quickly added in Agility class.. and even animal acting/trick classes!. Both Cody and I look forward to classes each week... his favorite words are "Are you ready to go to school?" Not only are the teachers turning Cody into a very well adjusted dog, but they have taught me how to handle him properly. It is not just about teaching a dog a trick or a command, it's about teaching the owners how to properly train their dogs. I would recommend DTASFL 100% to anyone.. This training facility is perfect for the 8 week old puppy and the 8 year old dog who needs some help. They are an indoor air conditioned facility. They teach positive reinforcement training which in my opinion is the "only way to go"... so please check them out!

I'm taking my dog Chief, an American Bulldog, to DTASFL. I started there with a Living Social coupon, hoping they could help with socialization. Within a week, he began to learn (with their guidance) not to bark and want to run over to play (in his hyper way, which is often misconstrued as aggressive) or see the other dogs. We now know what to do and how to give him the 'time out' he needs in a positive way, helping him teach himself that he can't behave that way. I was so happy that someone understood his needs after 4 years of trying with little success. In fact, I enrolled him for further classes! Bravo to all the teachers at DTASFL for their patience with both the dogs AND their humans! ;-D

My name is Paisley, I am a Cattle Dog blend, and a happy student of DTASFL! My Mom started bringing me here when I was a little puppy. I got to go to Puppy Camp and lots of puppy classes that were tons of fun. I also learned how to be a good puppy (most of the time anyway) and, most important of all, I learned how to learn! AND my Mom learned how to teach me things. I love, love, love all of the trainers here! They are all very nice and they give me cookies or toys when I am a good girl. And since this is all about positive training, if I don't do the right thing, they are patient with me and help me until I succeed. That makes me (and my Mom) feel very happy! I am a year old now and I still take lots of classes here because they are really fun, and we stay cool in our AC'ed room, and we never get rained out! My most favorite classes are FlyBall with Sally and Tricks with Kat...and even Obedience is fun (...kinda'...). I don't get to come to too many Agility classes or SOAR's (those are fun too, sort of like doggy pilates!) but I would if there were more times available. DTA has lots of cool equipment, I hope someday they get a big lake with a dock to jump off of, and a farm with some sheeps for us to herd, then they will have everything! (A note from Paisley's Mom: I told her those last two things were not very likely...she said she can still dream.)

I highly recommend DTA to anyone who asks me where I learned to be such a good puppy! And if there is any doubt as to how good the trainers are at DTA...Mom only helped me *a little bit* to write this review. Mostly I thought of it all by myself!

Dog Training Academy of South Florida Rocks!

Yesterday we attended our first puppy class with our Border Collie Strider and it was the best class I have ever attended with any of my dogs. It worked on teaching our puppy about "life skills" and was so real to true world situations. The air conditioned indoor facility is so refreshing to train in during the hot south Florida weather. It was also very clean and the owner/instructor was very organized and thorough! Thank you Holly for an amazing class! We look forward to many more!

Dog training is as much for the owner as it is the pet. I'm loving the training tips that I am getting for working with my Terrier mix, Dexter. The puppy classes are very reasonable and have been different each time that we've been. I leave with some new method or piece of information each time. I'm excited to continue learning and attending classes with Dexter!

Awesome Doggie School!!

I think is a great school for dogs. Excellent atmosphere and environment. The facility provides valuable socialization for all breeds, and the trainers are excellent. Above all, it’s affordable. I love it! It’s a shame I did not know of it before. I think every dog owner should try this school.

I'm not much of a believer in ...

I'm not much of a believer in online reviews but I felt the need to take a moment to respond to this review since I could not disagree with it more.

I have been a client of Holly's long before her opening this the Dog Training Academy of South Florida for my own pet and currently enjoy and highly reccomend her classes to my own clients. I have owned large breed dogs my whole life and thought " I know how to train a dog," so when I met Holly with my new puppy she offered me to come try a class, no obligation and honestly I was hooked.

Her positive based training methods and compassionate trainers have acutally made me a better owner. I can't tell you how many people compliment me on how well behaved my Aussie is and I can honestly say yes he is a wonderful dog but I enjoy him so much more because of what I have learned with Holly and her trainers in all the different classes we have taken with her. ( Obedience, Agility, Flyball, Tricks)

As a manager of a large veterinary animal hospital we see LARGE and SMALL breed canines everyday with training and reactive behaviors that have pushed their owners into considering relinquishing the pet or euthanasia. We refer to Holly regularly for basic training but specifically for her Reactive Dog classes for those pets with specific behavioral issues the trainers can assist owners in retraining (REGARDLESS OF SIZE).

We have had such a positive response from our referrals that clients do not mind traveling from Coral Springs to Davie. To me that says EVERYTHING about the quality of the training and service that Holly and her team provide.

South florida dog training academy

The concept is great but the school is designed more for foo foo dogs. Powerful breeds are a bit intimidating for the trainer gals. However, for powerful breed puppies are less duscriminated by the trainers for they dont really represent harm until they reach full maturity. I think the trainers lack knowledge of powerful breeds such as gsd, pits, dobies, akitas , and rotts. The trainers are more incline and open to little, toy dogs, medium , or lab types of dogs. Furthermore, if the school was designed for the foo foo dogs they should put a dusclaimer on powerful breeds. Its a shame bec the concept is great and it is beneficial socialization for powerful breeds, but the trainers are not well educated in them, they lack knowledge or perhaps they really dont want to be bother with the breeds that really need help !!! Oh and they also lack people skills and communication skills , they fail to respond to inquiries!

claimed iconBusiness Response10/21/2012

This sounds like a troll post... More than 60% of our clients are large breed "powerful" dogs including pits, Akitas, Rotties, dobies and gsd's... So considering that, the statement made is false. The owner of the school also OWNS a rottie. Also the other 28 reviews before this indicate excellent communication skills, people skills and very knowledge and loving instructors...and if you had really contacted us or met us you would know that.

I recommend DTASFL to everyone I meet who has a dog, particularly puppies. We started bringing our puppy to class shortly after he came to live with us. It was a fun way to bond with him and we've both learned a lot.

The classes at DTASFL are affordable, so you can keep up with a regular schedule and there's plenty of variety. We've tried a few different types of classes and worked with all of the trainers at least once. Aside from being knowledgeable and dedicated, you can tell that each and every one of them deeply love dogs.

Training with your furry friend at DTASFL is not just about teaching an animal to follow orders. It's a place to learn how to communicate with your pet, build their trust & self-confidence, and spend a dedicated hour or two having fun with them.

If you want to enjoy a happy, ...

If you want to enjoy a happy, well behaved, well mannered, Dog this is the place to go. The trainers are wonderful, friendly, down to earth, professional and very knowledgeable. They offer a schedule that fits everyone. You have all levels of training from basic obedience to advanced agility and more, even private classes. What appealed to me was the fact that you can start a class at anytime, meaning they don t have start and finish dates every dog is an individual and moves on to the next class when ready, no pressures. Prices for the classes can t be beat. I stated obedience with my dog when he was 5 months old, he has come so far, he loves going to class (me too). I have learned as much as my dog. It is a great experience to learn together and get a better bond with you dog. DTASFL is the best.
