As one of only about six E-85 gas stations in the Fort Lauderdale, Broward County, Florida area, I find myself shopping here by default. As the owner of a Flex Fuel vehicle, I do enjoy saving a few extra cents on my gas purchase. An added bonus is the fact that this Stirling U Gas station is mere minutes from my office in Davie.



These convenience features are where the good review ends.



On numerous occasions throughout the last several months, I've purchased E-85 and other gasoline here. Each and every time - no matter the credit or debit card I use - the sale was always rejected, in favor of "See Attendant." When I enter the store and hand my card to the cashier - conveniently hidden behind a shield of safety glass - said card is never rejected.



The "see attendant" screen is a common ploy for customers to have to enter a gas station/convenience store in an effort to generate revenue. I have questioned several cashiers at the Stirling U Gas and never received a straight answer on this contention. I have, though, witnessed other customers having the same problem. These same credit and debit cards have not been rejected at any other retailer or merchant.



This Stirling U Gas is located in the northeast corner of Stirling Road and Davie Road. Entering the station is pretty easy, but due to traffic patterns is not the easiest to depart from. This gas/convenience store has an air machine and vacuum cleaner at a dollar each. In using the air machine one occasion, I did not have a problem filling all four tires of my vehicle.



E-85 was $2.29/9 on June 11, 2015. This price is up ten cents over the prior two weeks.



Rating gasoline/convenience stores is not an easy thing. The primary reason for the low rating here is the "see attendant" prompt on the screen each and every time I visit. Had this not been the case, Stirling U Gas would receive 3 stars.
