The Bureau of Highways is a division of the Howard County Department of Public Works. It maintains county-owned roadways, bridges and drainage facilities and repair potholes, remove snow, unclog sewer pipes, plant trees, mow rights of way, erect guardrails, replace curbs, fix traffic signals and put up street. It also provides various other services, such as road crack-sealing and tree trimming services. It has a traffic engineering division that provides traffic signals, streetlight installation, street signs, and traffic calming and safety services. Its sign and marking division is responsible for all existing street signs and pavement markings. The Bureau of Highways is located in Dayton, Md.
