I was passing through Dayton and decided to get my operating system updated. A friend told me about Mac Depot.

I went in and made it very clear that I was in town for a few days only, but they assured me they could work within my time limit. The tech said they would only charge me the fee for the op system, and figure out labor after it was installed.

When he ran my card, he charged the full amount of the system and the labor, apologized and said he would make the adjustment when I picked up the computer later. (strike one)

I called the following day to inquire about my machine. I was told on the phone that there was some trouble, but that they would be in touch with me. I did not hear from them. (strike two)

The next day they called to tell me that there was a problem with my machine that they could not address before I left Dayton because they would have to send it to mac directly.

When i went to pick up my laptop, they refunded me the operating system cost, and the labor cost, but they charged me a diagnostic fee - their diagnosis being that they could not fix my computer.

Also, my computer was working fine when I left it with them, but now won't even boot up at all.

I don't understand why they didn't give me the option of a diagnostic when they realized there was a problem, and I am left feeling as if they had to grab any money possible since they couldn't do what we agreed on them doing.

So now I have a dead laptop, and I'm out a diagnostic fee.

I believe that I should have been given the option of diagnosis, and I gave them ample opportunity to present the case as I called them.

I truly regret going to Mac Depot.

They LIED about the problem!

I took my 'just out of warranty' Mac to be repaired because it was shutting down during operation. They told me that the capacitors were bad and had leaked onto the motherboard (a common issue for that year of Macs). They said the repairs would cost about $800, deeming it pretty much a useless computer. I opted to not have them fix it. I decided to take it to another tech that I know and told him what the Mac Depot said was wrong with it. When he opened the machine, he said all of the capacitors were fine. Nothing had leaked onto the motherboard, and that it was a software issue, costing $0.00. The computer works perfectly now. Absolutely perfect. It's really sad that places can be so dishonest and willing to take other people's money. Thievery. I would highly recommend not coming here. Aside from the lying, the customer service was pretty awful too. I'm writing this review on the Mac that they said needed $800 worth of repairs for it to ever work again. Nice.
