I called Pat's by a referral from a friend. I am still on the quest of finding a salon that is knowledgeable and celebrates ALL hair types, especially NATURAL hair. When I first called and talked to the woman she told me only the barber trimmed natural hair. I honestly was a little skeptical because he was a man and my hair has never been trimmed by a male before. She let me talk to him because I wanted to ask him questions. Anyway, I went ahead and scheduled an appointment. When I arrived my wait wasn't too long, about 20 minutes. He was arching the eyebrows of 2 young ladies. He did a fairly good job. No complaints so far. He washed my hair and conditioned it. He then proceeded to blow dry it out to straighten it more. It wasn't completely straightened though. I had a big afro. After that, he started to trim all around my hair with scissors. I was SCARED and wanted him to stop because I've never had my hair trimmed like that before! I didn't feel like he took off as many split ends as he could have if my hair was straightened. He didn't take off a lot of hair, but I was very afraid when he first started. He told me it wasn't as bad as I thought. He finished. And I was relieved. He didn't overcharge me and he was nice. I think this is a better salon for natural hair, but I will still be on the lookout for better.
