Established in 1917 and headquartered in Dayton, Ohio, Air Force Materiel Command is a department of the United States Air Force. It conducts tests, evaluation and research and development studies for the armament, navigation, guidance, command and control systems. It also provides essential work force, infrastructure and management services and logistics support to keep the air force weapon systems ready for war. Air Force Materiel Command has a professional work force of about 78,000 military and civilian employees. Additionally, it organizes workshops to provide training to Air Force officers on health and fitness. Air Force Materiel Command also strives to provide the best weapon systems through the Air Force Research Laboratory and specialized centers that utilize an advanced technology for the development of aircrafts, missiles, and ammunition and electronic systems. It additionally operates various centers, such as the Aeronautical Systems Center, Air Armament Center, Electronic Systems Center and Arnold Engineering Development Center.
