I was referred to British American after having a new AC compressor installed at another shop and then finding out that there was an electrical short that caused the compressor to fail in the first place. I dropped off the car and was told that they would call me when they found the problem. I work in the auto industry and understand that shorts take time to find. I called them after they had been on it about two hours asked how it was progressing and was told that it would be finished in another hour. At this time I was at $120. 10 minutes after hanging up my wife was called and told the car was done and the bill was $450, I called them right back and asked what was going on and was told that I had a bad circuit board that cost $300. I said that I was just on the phone with you and we were at $120 and I did not want your $300 circuit board (which they miraculously had in stock). He said come get it, its $450 I am a parts supplier here in town and asked how he found such a rare part? He said again come get it, $450 . I went there immediately and asked for the old part (required by law to retain) and was told that they no longer had it. It was a holiday weekend and my wife really needed the car so still protesting I attempted to pay with a credit card and was told CASH ONLY . After paying CASH and telling the man that I was being screwed (which he said yes you are ) I drove off in the car very unhappy. The best part is that 1 week later my new AC compressor burned out due to a short in the electrical system that was never fixed in the first place. Steer clear of George and British American.
