The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. The department provides law enforcement and crime prevention services. It intervenes in cases of robbery, burglary, auto theft, serious assault, sex crime and narcotics trafficking. It operates intelligence, aviation, K-9, juvenile investigations, bomb disposal, marine unit and crime analysis units. The Volusia County Sheriff's Office responds to emergency and nonemergency calls for service. The department conducts investigations, gathers evidence, and interviews suspects, victims and witnesses. It offers Drug Abuse Resistance Education, citizen observer and gang resistance education programs. In addition, the department conducts safety-related training sessions for the general public.
