I first came to the Dekalb Women Specialist when I learned I was pregnant with my fourth child. the practice is overcrowded and has more clients than it can handle, the wait time was terrible, every time you went for your appointment. if your appointment is at 9:am plan on being seen at 11:30 am this was the norm. every time you went you saw someone different, Dr. Scott was supposed to be me Dr., Nurse Midwife Mitchell was supposed to be my Midwife. I also saw a few other folks, they were often harried and rushed you thorough your visits after keeping you wait for two or more hrs. the worst part was I was told by Dr Scott the day before I went into labor my daughters head was positioned down, when I showed up at the hospital dilated 10 cm, the very next day. I was told my baby was coming sideways and they needed to do an emergency C-section. I was in complete shock and traumatized, none of the providers who had seen me my entire pregnancy could be reached. my C-section was done by a Dr. I did not know, although I will say he did a wonderful job. for three days I was in the hospital right downstairs from their practice, not one of them bothered to come and visit with me. it was very hard for me to get over the bitterness and dismissive attitude displayed by them. this practice only cares to want to rack up clients, your treated like a piece of meat and dollar sign. if you owe a copay they will hound you to death and cancel your appointment till you pay, but will think nothing of keeping you waiting 2-3hrs past your appointment, they have no respect for your time. the only good thing I can say about this practice is they are very thorough on the test they do run. if their is something wrong they will find it and get follow up with you. after I got out the hospital I never went back to them, not even to have my babies picture posted on their wall. its was a terrible and traumatizing experience. I would never recommend them to anyone. its interesting to note that I saw Dr. Scott a few months back, at a hospital in Decatur when I went for an ultrasound with my fifth pregnancy. I said hi and told him I went to his practice two years ago, he laughed and said I should come back and see them for this pregnancy I laughed and said not in a million years.
