Our son attended Academy of Scholars for Pre-K, Kindergarten & 1st grade. We moved during the summer and our son was unable to attend AOS for 2nd grade. However, our son did very well at AOS. I initially had some concerns about him leaving a fairly new private Christian school (AOS) and entering an A+ elementary school. However, after getting the below message from his 2nd grade teacher during the 3rd week of school, I can say AOS was at the top of their game!

Great news! _____________is reading at a 3rd grade level! His score was a 3.4! His reading fluency should be at 55wpm now BUT his is 120wpm. GO __________!
He is on top of his Math!!! Such a smart kid! šŸ˜‰

I hope his new school is ready for the challenge!

Kudos to the Academy of Scholars for their Amazing leadership, phenomenal teachers and EXCELLENT curriculum. Thank you for challenging our son. GO AOS!!!! Keep up the good work! We miss you!!

My daughter has completed 2 years at the Academy and she will returning in August for a third. I have seen growth in her academics this past year (especially in math) and I look forward to her not making just the honor roll this coming year but the principals list.

Don't come here to be coddled or told your child is the greatest student of all time. The reason you should come here is solid instruction and unyielding standards. We had to work to get my 4th grader to A B honor roll. At AOS nothing is given everything is earned, that's how my family likes it. So it is regimented by the book and sets high expectations. I don't like the Ren Web though prefer face to face or e mail interaction.

We have been at AOS for two years now and I love everything about it. I don't know of a better school in this area. If a great education in a good environment is your main concern then I would recommend this school 10 times out of 10. I get the sense that a lot of the issues that are being reported here are personal and not education related. I have a two year old, and he will also be an AOS scholar when that time comes.

My daughter has been at the school and at the top of her class for 2 years. She is in kindergarten and reads on a 3rd grade level. She is learning Spanish, computer coding and being challenged daily even though she is already very smart. Her teachers have always been amazing and Ms. Johnson has also been an awesome leader. All the parents I have talked to agree with me so Iā€™m not sure where these negative reviews come from. AOS gets an A+ from me!!!

We have been at the Academy of scholars for 2 years and to date our experience has been a positive one. We chose this school for our child because of the Christian based values and the strict curriculum. The CLO position has changed from when we initially signed up but alot of the administration remained in place and the teachers that we have experienced have all been enthusiastic in regards to teaching the kids. The new CLO has been transparent and has given me no reason to be concerned with her management style rather with the staff or the kids. We reviewed her background and found that Ms. Johnsons work in the Ohio area was very impressive. Just like anything else you and your kids will get out what you put into your experience at the Academy. If your looking for school that will push your kids academically in the DeKalb area and also has a Christian foundation this is the school for you and if you do have questions about the new CLO do yourself a favor and stop by to meet her to form your own opinions about the school - we did and we feel it was the perfect fit for us.

Initial was very good. Leadership down to the admin staff. Recently under the new CLO..many parents are planning to remove their children because the non-cooperative relationship with the new CLO...parents cannot express their 1st amendment rights. If they do she threaten and has remove the child even if the child is a straight "A" student and the tuition has been paid in full. Make sure you read page 12 of the handbook. This school has the potential of being great if the current quote unquote "led by God" CLO is removed and replaced with an individual that knows how to communicate and work collaborative with the parents.
