Black & Company, based in Decatur, Ill., was founded in 1920. The company has presence in eight locations in seven cities. Its industrial supplies include cutting tools, paint and ind coatings, abrasives, fasteners, hand tools, electrical, precision tools, plumbing, portable power tools, material handling, stationary tools, storage, lubrication and equipment, contractor supplies, safety and sanitation. It is an ISO 9001:2000 certified company and D&B 3A1 rated. It has 100 full time employees, 4,000 active vendors, more than 33,000 different items stocked and 176,000 additional items in its inventory database. Its interbranch trucks run on a daily basis, giving its customers access to the entire Black & Company inventory. The company is a member of the industrial supply division of affiliated distributors and the Industrial Supply Association. The company owns 25 delivery trucks and delivers most items in trucks to its regional customers. It has an integrated computer system including state-of-the-art inventory management and is fully EDI capable.
