The Decatur Fire Department is a division of city of Decatur, Ill. The department has more than five fire stations located throughout the city. Its facilities include engine companies, aerial truck companies, rescue vehicle, a Hazmat response unit, boats and a command vehicle. The department has a staff of more than 110 firefighters. The department handles more than 7,000 emergency incidents in a year and conducts fire safety inspections and presents fire and life safety educational programs. The Decatur Fire Department was established in 1884. It is a part of The City of Dectaur that also has police, water management and economic and urban development departments.
