I was a patient educator/lap band patient for more than 10 years, so when I needed a fill after recovering from a dilation I looked up my bariatric solutions due to their mobile unit coming to my town. Imagine my disappointment when I receive the most patronizing, condescending treatment I've ever experienced. I went for two fills and received .2 cc each time. As a seasoned band patient I knew that wasn't enough to provide adequate restriction, and expressed my concern at my first appointment. I was told to come back in three weeks, which I did, only to receive another .2 cc. Again, I expressed my concern that I wasn't feeling restriction and was told we don't want to overdo it, and I should wear leg weights and watch my carbs. I take full responsibility for my lack of control and subsequent weight gain, but as a band patient I expected better care and treatment than what I experienced. Having worked with providers, I have a good idea of what a good fluoro looks like and when fluid is going through too quickly. As of now, I've paid more than $500 for a total of .4cc and a gain of about 12 pounds since starting with mbs, and they expect me to keep scheduling appointments at $225 each. At this rate I'll be out thousands just to get back to my pre-dilation weight. Disgusting in so many ways.
