I am Erik Hill of Erik J. Hill Photography, an Eastern Idaho based wedding, portrait and event photographer. Welcome to my website! My journey with photography began in mid-2011 when I bought a vintage film camera at a thrift store. After taking a lot of poorly exposed images I started to figure out how to manipulate the camera’s settings to get the results I wanted. I eventually invested in an entry-level DSLR which took me to the next level. I read as many tutorials and tips as I could get my hands on, completed some formal training and took as many pictures as I could. All of those experiences have influenced me and helped me realize what I enjoy most about photography. I love taking pictures of people! I don’t have some intense philosophy about “capturing memories” or “freezing a moment in time”, but I do feel strongly about capturing reality to the best of my ability. My personal “style” utilizes auxiliary lighting and minimal editing to create dynamic images. Families, seniors, engagements, bridals, weddings, events… I enjoy it all.
