In 1957, Harry L. Nickelson developed a thin dense chromium process for metals and named it armoloy, which stood for armor alloy. By 1962, Nickelson decided to license his proprietary process and created the Armoloy Corporation to serve as the licensing agent. In 1969, Jerome F. Bejbl obtained a license from Nickelson and opened the subsidiary, Armoloy of Illinois. The first international franchise was established in England in 1985 as Armoloy U.K. Since its establishment, the company has grown from one plant with revenues of $50,000 to more than 10 plants with worldwide revenues of approximately $22 million. It serves the United States with nearly 10 franchises. Its main products include Armoloy TDC/XADC-Armoloy process coatings, Armoloy TDC thin dense chrome process coatings and XADC-Armoloy nano-diamond coatings. Armoloy Corporation maintains its corporate headquarters in Dekalb, Ill.
