Founded in 1852, Wisconsin School for the Deaf is located in Delavan, Wis. It is a residential school for children with hearing disorders from throughout the state. The school operates under the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and provides educational services for hearing impaired students up to 21 years. Wisconsin School for the Deaf enrolls more than 150 students every year, and offers classes from prekindergarten through 12. The school focuses on meeting the needs of students with disabilities in the areas of academic, adaptive education, vocational and social skills development. It offers a wide range of service and facilities for students, such as a fully stocked library, guidance and counseling services, athletics, outreach activities and therapy programs.
