The American Orchid Society, a nonprofit organization founded in 1921, is more than a flower club and is one of the best resources in the world for orchids. While its primary goal is to spread the joy of growing orchids, its membership provides other benefits including 12 free issues of Orchids, its award-winning magazine, a copy of Your First Orchid, a book about the care and selection of orchids and an orchid directory listing affiliated societies and sources for plants and supplies. Members are also entitled to a 10 percent discount on purchases from the Orchid Emporium, the book and gift-shop of the Society and a free blooming-size orchid. The American Orchid Society is located in Delray Beach, Fla.
