Westword is one of the largest alternative weeklies in the country. The newspaper features stories on film, music, dining, culture, nightlife, news and features. The newspaper caters to the young, being read in college classrooms, coffeehouses and corporate offices. Westword is the recipient of numerous awards including being awarded second place for an editorial story by the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies. The paper was founded in 1977 in Denver, Colo. and was purchased by New Times Media in 1983. Readers can pick up the paper locally, or subscribe and read its contents online.

Denver has only 'one' choice for a news paper & that's the Denver Post . You may as well watch Fox News Network , it reads w/ the close mindedness of most conservative Republicans .

The Westword , from chief editor Patricia Calhoun , on through her talented staff of journalists including Michael Roberts , Sam Levin & Allen Prendergast , to name a few from many , produce a weekly paper along w/ a daily updated online edition .

It can accurately be described as Denver's cultural news and local entertainment source . Ranging from breaking news from Washington , to where to find first sushi followed by smooth jazz at the last minute on a Friday night . You need look no further than the Westword .

I cannot close w/o mentioning Westword's Blogs . You'd be hard pressed to find more TRUE and REAL educated voices expressing on a non-censored platform . It welcomes serious input W/ INTERACTIONS from the contributing , on staff , journalists. This you don't often find ...
