Ready Labor on E. Colfax SUCKS! It's a terrible place to seek work. You arrive at 3:45am and you are forced to wait until 9am or even later before you even get a work ticket. Then you go to the job site and work for under the minimum wage and then you return after 12 hrs and you get a $40 pay check. It's the closest you will come to slavery in America. Also, the people who congregate there are lowlifes, drunks, drug addicts, and criminals. I spent 5 hours there this morning waiting for work and the smell of the place and the people is disgusting! You're treated like dirt and they'll tell you how little they could care about you, your job security, or your job safety.

In this tough economy, every bit helps. The Ready Labor on east Colfax has work and will send you on assignments. However, they do have their favorites, regardless of immigration status. "Spanglish" speaking Illegals are welcomed with open arms. Once you've shown up for several weeks and successfully completed assignments, you'll become a 'favorite'. Then, you will be selected for assignments - provided you arrive on time (3:45am?) to sign the availability sheet. If you are an ethnic minority with a Muslim sounding name, or look middle-eastern, I suggest going elsewhere. There will be a palpable undercurrent of hostility towards you, and until you successfully complete several assignments, they will distrust you and select you as a last resort for assignments.Lastly, it is not a perfect company by any measure, but they do have work. And, in the final analysis - especially in this economy - that is the only thing that really counts.
