Provided by YP.comBeing in the midst of March there was one thing on my mind as I ventured out to the Denver streets in search of good wine, dine, and everything in between. That thing was called March Madness. It’s once a year and calls for endless good times, especially while out in public cheering for your favorite team with locals, and maybe even shouting some boo’s at those who favor an opposing team. With basketball on my mind I made my way out of my down town Denver apartment, and found myself just past Speer Boulevard on Lincoln. An area called Capital Hill was where I found an illuminated sign for a bar/grill that particularly caught my eye. The sign read Stoney’s Bar and Grill. As quickly as I was attracted towards the sign and name, my attention was thwarted by the masses of people at the bar’s outdoor patio. With bright light and sound coming from every facet of this place I knew I had found my destination.
As a sport’s fan going out for food I especially knew that I wanted a location with TV’s broadcasting the major NCAA tournament games. Little to my knowledge I had found just that place. As I made my entrance there was cheer coming from every corner of the restaurant/bar, and it was spilling out to the outdoor balcony. In my site was more than twenty five TV’s all of which were streaming basketball games from the tournament. With almost an instance I was greeted at the door and reception area by two lovely hosts. With college gear on they lead me through the masses to a high seated booth in fine site of all the games. As the host handed me my menu she stated how all of their dishes were new and upgraded, and that a server would be with me in just a minute.
Peering down towards the menu I noticed mainly bar food, however it was high class. From grilled Ahi, to American Deluxe Sliders, they had all the essentials of high class bar food covered. And not to mention prices that were more than fair considering the place, and more importantly location. Being a burger fan I went with the sliders. Amongst the vast menu, there was a drink menu that was twice as pleasing. It was full of specials on specials. Three for one deals on select mixed drinks, and countless other deals flooded the pages of the drink menu. Win.
After a few minutes of having my menu down I was waited on and my orders were in. My drink was delivered promptly and so were the refills. Lounged in a comfy bar chair with a drink in one hand, and my tournament bracket in the other, life was good. As I watched Louisville pursue a twelve point come back against Michigan State my food was served and it exceeded my expectations by far. With all the festive decor of random sports teams, college flags, ski gondolas, and scattered random items I figured the place was mainly known as a drink hang out. Oh and the skee ball set up in the back. None the less the food was delicious and I was one full, and pleased man.
As I sat digesting my meal the game was near ending. My team was winning and so was I. I got to go out on a beautiful Colorado day to a bar and grill that was more than pleasing. The youthful party atmosphere was immediately welcoming, especially with the NCAA games on full blast. I had more than a enjoyable experience, and knew upon my arrival that I would be coming back. If you’re someone like me who likes to go out to watch sporting events, enjoy a little sun on the patio, and drink specials for exclusive hours, then this is a place for you. With a glamorous menu, and endless entertainment Stoney’s Bar and Grill is hard to beat.
