This place is a joke. I called to schedule an appointment for my daughter and they wouldn't accept our insurance. "Unless you also have Medicaid with your insurance plan, we can't accept it." So, because you don't get to gouge me and take money from the government program, you won't take my business. Ridiculous.

I thought it was a great environment for my nephew. The employees seemed good w the kids. I would definitely recommend them.

Ocean Dental staff is very rude to both patients and the parents, and this is the normal behavior of the staff on a regular basis. My children are teens and are petrified to go back. The office is filthy and unkept, and the dental offices themselves do not look much better. It seems to me that they are doing what they can just to make money off of Title 19 patients rather than to provide good dental care. I would advise parents to look for other options before taking their children here.

NEVER take your kids to ocean dental! They did a root canal on our 5 year old baby tooth! Really!? Then he got a infection in his mouth from dirty instruments! We have contacted the Polk County Health Department, and a Lawyer. He had to be on antibiotics and could not eat solid food for a week. Then they said our 15 year old needed her wisdom teeth pulled, our pediatric Dr said they are not even done growing in, and should not even be touched yet! We have also contacted our insurance company, and we may contact the media! So upset!

DO NOT GO TO OCEAN DENTAL ! The Office Admin Woman ( the only one NOT in scrubs) Need to be fired! I have been in that office 4 times and SHE IS ALWAYS DISRESPECTFUL to Customers and Staff. However today was the last straw! DO NOT TELL PARENTS INCORRECT INFORMATION REGARDING THEIR CHILD this is the 3rd time you have done it ! I will be taking this issue ALL the way up the Ocean Dental Corporate Ladder! This is a PROMISE! YOU NEED TO FIND A JOB WHERE YOU ARE NOT ENVOLVED WITH THE PUBLIC !

I took my children to ocean dental and the staff treated my kids very poorly. They were not nice and would talk about going out and drinking on the weekends while they were working with my kids. Ocean dental did a horrible job as a far as the dental work goes also and we will never be going back!! I had to take my kids somewhere else to have their work fixed !!

We had our first trip to Ocean Dental today. The staff did excellent at making sure the child was taken care of, they were friendly and kind. THe only downfall I saw was that I was not able to share my concerns with the dentist BEFORE hand, everything was said and done after he looked into the mouth and I felt somewhat "rushed" to talk to the dentist. For young children, I do think they should allow parents go back, or at least have the choice. So that the dentist can talk with the parent while he's working. Especially if the child has noticeable problems! All in all it was a pleasant experience.

Ocean Dental is a caring and compassonate clinic which serves many different clientele, including medicaid and hawk-i patients as well as private insurance. I feel that Ocean Dental does a great job of making the patients feel comfortable while providing excellent customer service and patient care! I have been going to Ocean Dental for about a year now and I take all three of my children there. I found the girls up front especially welcoming! Sometimes there is a wait, but that is the way it is with any clinic setting. The staff is polite and caring. The dentists are very calm and good with the children. They get as much work done as they can without over doing it with the children. I would highly recommend Ocean Dental.

I work at Ocean Dental in Des Moines, Ia. We give the very best care possible for out patients. Many of our patients say they love our office because it is very child friendly and is more comforting for children because its not the typical "scary" dentists office. We always make sure our patients get what they need and we do as much work in the alotted time as possible. Due to our high no show rate we over schedule our patients so that we can work as much as possible, if all of the patients scheduled for that hour show up it may take a little longer to get out but you will always get something done. I love Ocean Dental, it is a fun place to work and I would definately trust the staff with my children. The dentists are very nice and make the patient as comfortable as possible.

I agree with first poster. I will NEVER return to Ocean Dental. I was told I had to leave my 7 year old child alone in the waiting area because she was not allowed to go back with me. What kind of policy is this? This place has no "bedside"manner. All they are interested in is the money from medicare. What a joke.

Do not go to Ocean Dental in Des Moines, Iowa. They treat these children like a number you pull while waiting in line at a customer service desk. You are not allowed to be with your children during ANY of the visit. This office knew this was our first time ever being at a dentist with her and the first time ever coming to Ocean Dental. Then when I questioned the secretary about why they didn't let me know that I could not accompany my child, the secretary in turn told me "You should have asked!" No, I shouldn't have! Where is your compassion Ocean dental? This should be a requirement to tell first time customers information like this. Then we could make our own decisions whether we want to go to your particular office or not. Two other mothers there were angry about this same issue. One of the mothers there was watched as they were holding her child down while this 2 year old was screaming and she wasn't allowed in to console him. Both mothers agreed on never coming back!
