my mother has been a patient at union park health services since 2005. her medical care has been excellent, but the financial department is apparently in trouble. my mother has been paying her "client participation" under medicaid in full since she became a medicaid recipient. unfortunately, union park health services has been through a tough time with their billing personnel. the employee in charge of billing was apparently fired in late 2007, and mom received a threatening letter from the nursing home that she was behind in her payments. when i protested and presented evidence to the contrary, the threats for payment ceased for several months, and the account balance only showed her required monthly client participation.

now in may 2008 the nursing home has back-billed her for expenses dating back to december 2007, above and beyond her medicaid-mandated client participation.
