Wish there were a no star rating. They were paid in advance to be somewhere at 6:00am.... they were not there until 7:30Am... When I called today Heidi (the call center supervisor) said they were a few minutes late... I really do not understand how 1 1/2 hours is a few minutes... Also, they did not call me to let me know they did not take care of the pick up but when I call they say they have the money to give me back.... Wondering if they were going to keep my money if I didn't call them. To make matters worse Heidi said "we tell everyone we can't guarantee a time" but admitted she did not tell me or the person who came into pay for the services they didn't guarantee a time. The unfortunate thing is that the cab companies in Des Moines are all owned by the same "people/company". Next time I will pay my 16 year old do to something instead he is more responsible and dependable then the cab company.

On 9/14/14: Stay away from Yellow Cab Des Moines !!! I called at 9am for a 2:30pm pick up. At 2:40pm, no one had arrive to pick me up, so I called them again and was told, "I have no driver for you." At 3pm a yellow cab driver showed up - but said he was waiting on a fare and he parked there for 10 minutes before driving away without a passenger. At 3:15pm a driver finally showed but I missed my bus back to Iowa City !!! They were rude and did not care that I missed my bus. Stay away from Yellow Cab !!!

i called taxi aug. 6th noon and after 40 min. i can get a taxi. i know, raining today thats why hard to get a taxi . but cap driver was really kind and nice. and my baby love ride taxi. but i left my touch sell phone. it is mark sprint and LG . i really need my phone, the phone is obama phone and i got a lots of my baby's pictures in that phone. and i have lock my phone so need pin number. i really need my phone. if u got my sellphone , e-mail me please..... [email protected] . i don't wanna lose my baby's young picture.... i have all my baby pictures that phone. so please....if someone took my phone, just give back to me please..... thank you so much....

TERRIBLE service. called them at 5:30a in the morning to get me to work by 7a. My workplace is only a few miles away. The cab company got me there at 7:55a. A day prior called them at 6:30a to get me to work at 8a and they got me there at 8:55a. My sister calls them at 5:30 in the morning to get her to work by 8a and yet again they keep saying they're on their way, and the call center is beyond rude about it and the cab continues to not show and they can not tell you when or how late you'll be so you yet again come late to work after paying their full price for the ridiculous service they supply. This cab service is a joke and if they need a 4 hour, 3 hour notice then they should say it, don't keep saying we'll be there and we're only 5 minutes away when they have not a clue when a cab will be there.

Doesn't want happy customer

Took cab from airport to hotel after checking estimated fares online. Should have confirmed before getting into cab...Fare was 2x what quote estimate was given. Wouldn't honor price match of what was given on estimate for 4 cab companies. Called other company to schedule return fare trip and it is what is estimated and also commented that I was overcharged.

terriblly awful experience! i used them a couple of times and they were always late picking you up and I told myself just plan extra time with them. Until today, they did no show and when I called them they could not find the reservation. They have no clue what they are doing. Never use them again!

The worst cab company I've dealt with. Try any alternative first. I called an hour in advance for a cab which still hadn't arrived 30 minutes after the agreed time. Their explanation was "We're busy." Also, 243-1111 and 282-8111 are poorly run by the same people. They are NOT different companies. THE WORST TAXI SERVICE IN DES MOINES!!!!!

Yellow cab, yellow rip-off service. called cab at 10:20. get there until 10:45. When to my new apt. Told me the price was 9.80. Told him I went to the house, stopped by another place and it was 9.60. told i had to get my money from my apt. he didn't let me get my purse. then he called the police on me. because he had to wait for the police, fare when up to 15.00. all i had was 12.00 he took all of that.

This company is HORRIBLE!!!!!!!! If you are looking to get ripped off and the worst customer service in the world than, this is right up your alley! I have used the company many times in the past but today has been the WORST EXPERIENCE in my life, I called for a cab and was told 20 mins or less after waiting 30 mins I call back and the snotty dispatcher taking my call growls at me and tells me the cabbie is on the way... I live 5 miles from the Cab barn/business REALLY it takes 30 mins or longer to get one out to us?? and at 1:30 pm on a MONDAY! ? GEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZ! So I wait another 10 mins and I am finally fed up, the dispatcher must recongnize my # b/c she doesn't even answer and hangs up on me so I call again... I call and tell her we don't need the cab ( called another company ) and she was abrupt to cut me off and hangup on me and I tell her " I would like to speak to you for minute " rudely she says " FINE!" and I ask her " HOW is it I live less than 5 miles from your business and you can't get a cab here within 40 mins? Each time I call you are RUDE that is HOBBIBLE customer SERVICE and I should not have to keep calling back on the cab that was to be here in 20 mins or LESS!" she was displeased and hungup on me... NOW a company that hangs up on you.... that SCREAMS customer service! Their cabs are disgusting and the a/c does not work when it's 116 outside and the cabbies are old washed up nasty dirty people who are just as rude and will take the longest route possible just to run up their meter... I would not RECOMMEND this company or YELLOW CAB to anyone as they are the same company now... If you need a cab, Please call Freedom Taxicab at 515 289 9800.. Hope all this was helpful!

The worst!

My experience with this cab service was the worst! I assumed they knew how to locate the address I had, WRONG. Not to mention the wait in the first place. After sitting in the hotel lobby for 20+ minutes I went to my room to check the number and saw the cab pull up...by the time I rode the elevator back down the driver had left and I had to call and have him return. And he was rude!

people beware with gas prices up the drivers are doing everything in their power to stick it to the customers. when you get into the taxi make sure you check the meter because the drivers are counting on you not to check. in the last two weeks we've order a cab and have gotten in the meter reads 4.00. its in the middle of the day. the meter is to be at 2.00. when we questioned the driver he told us he was new (both times) and both wanted to say that is was that much until they realized we were regular customers. the cab company doesnt seem to care as long as they get their money. we called and complained before and the customers service is to put it plainly sucks. they figure you need them. ive taken freedom taxi lots of times and very happy with them i just cant call them with in the city limits. so if you can call another taxi service i would advise it.

yellow and capital cabs are slow and be ready to wait 2 hours for them if they show up at all. i live in ankeny and i have waited 2 hours for a yellow or capital cab also.if you need a cab surroundind des moines i would call freedom cabs never had to wait more then 20 min.i feel sorry for the people that live in des moines that have to use yellow and capital cabs. maybe soon the city will let other cabs pick up in the city to.to give you more options on who to call if you wait more then 30 min.

four times i have called them. i have waited up to 3 hours for them to come when the told me 30min!!! i called freedom cabs they where here in 15 min.i will call freedom cabs from now on.

How much time do you have to wait for a ride that may never come.

Des Moines is a nice little city and downtown is a relatively safe place,but if you're from out of town and it's 1 Am how long does a person want to stand outside waiting for a taxi to their hotel....well try til 2:15 AM and never seeing the cab at all and I understand that there are other cab companies in the area with outstanding service,but are not aloud to pick-up downtown....what's wrong with this picture. I ended up walking to my hotel,but was not happy about it,oh and by the way when I called back they didn't answer!
