The owner of Furrst and Furrmost, Bob is absolutely wonderful. With a great big heart for all dogs is trust him completely with my lab and schnauzer mix. He is a business man that is geared for the canine comfort world. He is very reasonably priced, makes sure that the dogs integrate well into the pack and has so much love to give to each and every pup in his care His house and yard are incredibly clean, and well taken care o, and each animal is well fed, in great health and showered with love every day.

As a military family I need extra help caring for my pups when my husband is away, Bob has been beyond wonderful in accommodating to my two dogs and their puppy personalities. Nervous to leave my furry babies away at a new place, I came back to find to exhausted well played and tuckered out pups. both of my dogs cannot wait to go kiss and lick Bob and run like crazy with his own loving rescued pack.

I Absolutely recommend Bob and his Doggy Boarding. I have been so very Blessed to find a place where my two loved puppies can have a home away from home.

Bob's is the best thing that has happened to our vacation schedule. Our dogs love the time at Bob's ranch and we don't feel guilty leaving them at a kennel. He loves the animals and treats the guests like family. Our only worry is that they won't want to come home...but they do. We give the Pooch Palace A++

We decided to go out to the de...

We decided to go out to the desert a couple of weeks ago as our elementary school kids were off for Spring break. We took our labradoodle with us as we were only going to do dog friendly activities during this time. After discovering that there were a couple of things that we wanted to do that weren't so dog friendly (Joshua Tree and the Aerial Tramway), I did a survey of the boarding options in the Palm Springs/Desert Hot Springs area.

Enter Bob and Furrst and Furrmost. Bob's setup is not your traditional dog boarding place. He has quite a few rescue dogs (I want to say 10-ish) along with some dogs that were being boarded. The dogs spend most of the time together, with the exception of feeding time and when Bob has to leave the compound (during which they are kept in their own large kennels). Needless to say, the dogs' days are very active and there is much socializing and playing.

After talking to Bob in person and getting a tour of the compound, Leon (our dog) was gradually introduced to all of the dogs. Bob called this the "interview period" where the dogs got to know each other a little so that any behavior issues could be exposed to see if the boarding setup would work for the new dog. This took 30 - 45 minutes and Leon, after getting over the initial shock of so many new dogs, fit right in. It quickly became apparent during this time that Bob has a deep understanding of all of the dog's personalities and of dog dynamics in general. We took care of the paperwork and ended up leaving him for two days/nights at around $30 per 24 hour period.

During the time it took to fill out the forms, my children got to know some of the rescue dogs better. There was one that they became especially fond of and brought him up repeatedly while we were off exploring the desert without Leon. We had been looking for a rescue dog to adopt for about a year, and he seemed to be a good fit for our family. After picking up a very happy and exhausted Leon, we filled out the adoption papers for Matt. Adopting didn't cost us anything but, since Bob is running a shelter (that has non-profit status), we sent him a tax-deductible donation.

Two weeks later, we have epic vacation memories to talk about, Leon has epic vacation memories that he can't talk about, and we have a wonderful addition to our family.

Thanks Bob!

The dogs are more important than the owners. They are allowed to roam the thoroughly and carefully fenced property mostly at will, which my dog seems to enjoy a lot more than being caged for hours on end with a couple of 20-minute "play periods." It's true that Bob prefers people to drop off and pick up dogs on a rather limited schedule, but if it has truly been an issue for us, we have found him to be helpful and cooperative when needed. It would be nice if I picked up a carefully groomed and bathed dog, but really, it's not a big issue and I think that my dog's social experience is a worthwhile tradeoff. No, it's not the cleanest place I ever saw, but it is far from being the dirtiest place I ever had to leave my dog. He doesn't care, and Bob takes great care to ensure that there are no sick dogs there. We have been taking Muna to Bob for about four years now, and will continue to do so.

Our dog's home away from home

Yeah, Bob gets snippy if you don't show up during the rather limited hours he's available to drop off/pick up dogs (though he's flexible if you call ahead to let him know you'll be late). Unlike the previous reviewer, I thought the house was surprisingly clean considering up to 20 dogs call it home at any given time. Really, what did you expect? Bob gives each new guest a trial run to see if the dog will behave well with the others already there, and I've never noticed any fighting. We've left our dog with him for extended periods, and while our pup's a bit dusty, doggy-smelling and happy to see us when we pick him up, he's always healthy and contented. Furrst and Furrmost is the best value in Southern California -- cage free care for the price of a regular boarding kennel -- and we'll continue to send our dog there.
