Regular HoursFirst place in the Detroit Public School League Division II will be on the line Friday at 4 p.m. when unbeaten Crockett (5-0 overall, 2-0 division) hosts Renaissance (3-2, 2-0) at Osborn High School. With the high school football regular season just past the midway point, Coach Rod Oden’s Rockets are one of three remaining unbeaten teams from the PSL, including Division I leader Cass Tech (5-0, 3-0) and Division III frontrunner Douglass (5-0, 1-0). Cass Tech, coming off its 25-0 showcase shutout of King last week, hosts division foe Mumford (2-3, 1-1) at 4 p.m. Friday, while King (4-1, 3-1) tries to rebound when it hosts Southeastern (3-1, 1-1) at 4 p.m. in the other Division I game. In other games Friday (all 4 p.m. starts unless noted), Northwestern (0-5, 0-2) visits Ford (1-4, 0-3) in a Division II matchup; Central (3-2, 1-0) visits Pershing (2-3, 0-1), and Osborn (0-4, 0-1) visits unbeaten Douglass in Division III; Finney (2-3, 1-0) visits Southwestern (3-2, 1-0), and Western (2-3, 0-1) visits winless Kettering (0-5, 0-1) at 7 p.m., in Division IV; and Cody (4-1, 2-1) visits winless Denby (0-5, 0-3) in a division crossover game. The 7 p.m. game at Kettering is the Pioneers’ homecoming and the PSL’s Game of the Week. Halftime festivities will feature the school’s alumni group making a formal dedication of the field to Leroy Bougard, a long-time football coach and administrator at Kettering who recently passed away.
