Dr. Batra attended medical school at the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit and completed his general surgery residency at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit. Dr. Batra completed a cardiovascluar and thoracic surgery residency at Case Western Reserve Universtiy Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Batra is board certified through the Amercian Board of Surgery and National Baord of Medical Examiners, and board eligible in the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Batra specializes in adult cardiac surgery, valve repair, minimally invasive and off-pump heart surgery, thoracic and esophageal surgery, pacemakers and implantable cardio-defibrillators. Dr. Batra is the chief of cardiovascular surgery at St. John Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Batra was recognized by his peers as one of Metro Detroit's most respected cardiovascualr surgeons in Hour Detroit magazine's annual "Top Docs" rankings in 2008.
