My son was admitted to Stonecrest Behavioral Health Hospital in Detroit Michigan. As his Mother, and with permission from my son to speak with the Psychiatrist Dr. K. there that was treating him with medication, I left FOUR messages FOUR days in a row for him to call me, and he never did. How can a patient receive quality care both in the hospital and at home following 10 days of hospitalization without a continuum of care that includes the parent that he lives with? Also, he did not receive one on one counseling with a therapist. He also informed me that all they offered him was group counseling, and only to color in a coloring book - at 21 years of age. He was BORED out of his mind. Horrible hospital for those that need treatment - not just to be admitted for medication and no contact with the person he lives with. Sad!!

My teenage daughter received treatment here for depression and suicidal thoughts. I was scared to send her to Stonecrest after reading reviews online. However, she benefited from the experience and learned a lot. Dr. V. and staff are professional and caring.

Entire staff EXCEPT the social workers are lazy, incompetent, abusively rude and ignore patients. Also, they DO not provide all of the in-patient services they claim. Nursing staff and aides congregate in the dayroom and complain about each other, the patients and spend more time on their cellphones texting or talking during their shifts.

Food is atrocious. You have almost no face time with the psychiatrist you are assigned. I was there 7 days and estimate a total of 15 minutes time spent with him. He was short-tempered and played mind games in those few minutes he allotted me.

I'd rather die than go back.

Where is the compassion

My father was a patient.
The only reviews I have read of this place called "Stonecrest Behavior Center of Detroit" are negative. VERY NEGATIVE! Unfortunately, I can only add to the negative reviews a horror story that my family experienced while my father was what they call a "patient" at Stonecrest. My father was admitted for observation while being medicated for signs of aggression due to his dementia. He was supposed to stay only 5 days. My happy, gentle, handsome father was admitted to Stonecrest able to walk with a walker or cane. 14 days later he was released (at a moments notice) unable to even stand. He had lost 24 pounds, had a mouth full of THRUSH, his body was full of infections. He was bruised literally from his head to his feet! He came home in dirty clothes that were not his-they would never send his brand new Christmas clothes back to us. These thoughts are so difficult to express, remembering what my father went through. My father is no longer suffering...he died 1 week after his release from Stonecrest. The doctor was rude and incensitive. He had no time for us. The staff were rude and would not answer our questions. Where is the compassion for a persons well being?

I don't even know where to begin. I was a patient in the Stonecrest adolescent unit and if i could give it more stars I would. I of course didn't want to be there. But my stay there was amazing. I was there for a long time and it changed me. My mental illness is 100% better. Dr. Venkataramon got my medications figured out and the staff and the doctor actually cares about me and how I felt. Every other place I've been to is absolutely no comparison to this place. I am So happy I had the opportunity to go to Stonecrest to make myself better. Thank you so much staff and Dr.V! Keep doing what you think is best

Inspirational is what I found Stonecrest to be.

We have had to place our 38 year old son in Stonecrest two different times. I found them to take very good care of him. The staff were caring and very helpful to us in aiding our son to get back on track. It is not easy to care for our loved ones who have emotional problems and outbursts of anger. Stonecrest does a very good job and their staff needs our support and prayers not negative comments. If our loved ones were so easy to take care of they would be at home and we would be doing it ourselves. l commend Stonecrest they have a hard task ahead of them caring for our loved ones.

If I could give this place a n...

If I could give this place a negative number I would. My 95 year old mother was sent there by a nursing home for showing signs of agression due to dementia. They were supposed to stabilize her and send her back. They kept her for weeks, and when we were finally able to find placement for her elsewhere she was covered in bruises, on her arms, her chest, and back. The doctor refused to let us see her more often than the scheduled visiting hours (one hour a day for 5 days). The place was like a jail from the middle ages, and the care was abysmal. Stay away from there at all costs!
